Leh Ladakh Trip

Hi,

I have planned to visit Leh next week. My dates are 10th Nov to 15th Nov. I am writing to you for some advice for my trip. I am a solo traveller, 26 years old. I have not booked any hotels yet - i hope it would be possible to get accommodation in reasonable rates on arrival. Please suggest if you know of any homestay or any reasonable place to stay. I am a solo traveller - so it will be a lil pricy to book a jeep for pangong tso lake and nubra valley - do you think i can get shared jeeps? Any other suggestions welcome. I have not planned my itinerary yet and unfortunately i cannot ride a motorbike :(

Thanks in advance.

Its pretty tough at that time. As we faced -6 at Pangong and 0 in Leh. So if you are really sure to face really chilly weather, the go ahead.

I believe you already booked your card, so I think you should consult your driver about that. They will help you out. As far as I was informed, in ladakh they dont work for commissions. So you can share your staying option with them. But it will really tough, as most of them got already closed for the season. Few of them will be open though.

BTW we stayed at Jampsal Guest House [@700 INR / night], and Hotel Tso Moriri [@1200 INR / night] in Leh. The first one is better.

I am not sure about share jeeps. But I have seen many cars, who does Pangong in 1 day. I am not sure if they do share or not. You have to talk to them.

On the route, you will get places to stay. You dont need to book earlier. But I will recommend you to avoid staying in Pangong Tso or Tso Moriri. Go to Hunder in nubra side. Its low in altitude, should not be that chilly.

Thanks. Yes, I am not bothered about the weather.
Thanks for the hotel suggestions. I hope - I can directly go there without booking in advance.
I am taking a flight. No I have not booked any car.

You mean - if i visit Nubra valley - i can stay there for some time? Will look into that. Thanks.

Is Leh worth a visit - leh alone? I am quite fond of Tibetan monasteries - and won't mind spending my time in exploring them.

There should not be any problem with flights, if the weather is fine.

Yes, you can stay in Hundar. Its almost 9000+ feet altitude, weather Leh 11500.

As you love monastry circuit, so Leh will be excellent.
