First, for those who have seen my other threads the past few weeks, please realize my travel plans are wide open & that's why I often ask about different locations!

As autumn approaches it's looking more likely that I'll go to Ladakh rather than the previously mentioned trips.

So what is your best advice for Leh in October?

99% certain will fly in from Delhi. Purpose of my visit is Buddhism/cultural education & photography.

Best bets for budget rooms, aiming for under 300 INR/night?

And, are ALL areas of Leh restricted to 4 hrs electric daily? Or do most GH run on generator back up so they still have power?

Hot water situation?

any other info you can provide?

tia

Walk around Changspa and you won´t have any problems finding a good basic room under 300 .A budget guest house with a generator .. that won´t work out , but four hours is a bit pessimistic this early in the autumn/winter. Good signs is the yellow tank on the roof ( solar heated showers , but this stops being used with the first frosty nights in September ) , and a nice garden. Mornings inside are cold , so a good spot on the roof or in the garden for breakfast is worth a lot.

(The edit option disappears after the next post , and ( hazy on this ) after some time , methinks. Deletion is up to moderators only )

thanks vistet
I have since found a list of guesthouses and am hopeful of finding a deal...do you have any personal recommendats??

I was told Leh only has 4 hrs of power daily at best all year but I guess that's incorrect???

As for the hot showers...I'm planning to be there into mid-October so how big of a problem is this going to be?! On day 3 w/o a hot shower I start turning into a very not fun/happy person!

otherwise layering for cold is not a big deal!
