Leh Ladakh in November 2018

Dear Friends,

I am planning to visit Leh Ladakh or Sikkim in Month of November 2018.
tentative dates 07-Nov-2018 to 18-Nov-2018.

Purpose of tour : Mainly snowfall (Nubra Valley & Pangon Lake)
no. of Pax : 2

Is this good time to visit Leh Ladakh without any hurdles...???

Thanks in advance

See if http://www.indiamike.com/india/sikkim-f34/a-dream-trip-to-dzongu-the-unexplored-land-of-the-lepchas-in-north-sikkim-t137430/ helps.

Fresh snow fall is usually a hit and miss. Sometimes it would snow in a place the day after you leave the place.

Snow in either of these places is very unlikely in November unless you visit the upper reaches like passes at Ladakh or Gurudhongmar and Zero point in north Sikkim

Correct. Snow in Ladakh in November is unlikely. Ladakh is a desert, of course, so there's very little precipitation at any time, and November tends to be clear. If it gets cloudy it can snow on the passes to Nubra or Pangong, but if it snows heavily on those passes, the authorities close them. You can probably see snow on the ground up there, though.

With a lot of luck you can see snow on the Manali-Leh road in mid-September or even a little earlier :

http://korta.nu/September6th

This snow is extremely short lived , burns away in a day of two once the sun is back.

August is peak monsoon , the infamous mudbath at Gulaba at times mean six hours or more for the first fifty klicks from Manali over the Rohtang.

The other way round should be better i.e. Srinagar-Leh-Manali in terms of acclimatization. September plan would do good if you are trying to minimize the chances of rain enroute but the possibility of snow at high passes eventually disappears as well.

Chances of rain are highest in August , few short time visitors see anything beyond a few gray days and some drizzle.
