Hi
Route and itinerary seems fine. As for rain you might get some at zozila pass. More details can be had at varghis khan or devil on wheels.
Happy journey.

You've got long gruelling days in the vehicle on winding dusty roads every day except day 1 and 2. Is that your idea of a fun time? Not mine, but I guess to each his own.

If your only reason for going to Nubra is because Khardong La is supposed to be the world's highest road, just check Google Earth. The pass to Pangong, Chang La, is 5 feet higher (because Khardong La is significantly lower than claimed by the army). Your GPS will confirm it. So you could cut out Nubra and have a much more interesting and pleasant trip, staying within central Ladakh valley and having more time out in the clean air of Ladakh, and less in the back of a taxi feeling carsick. Cheaper, too.

Looks good. The ride up the Khardung La is very enjoyable in itself, you see the scenery back over the valley. And great vistas over the Karakoram to the north. Diskit is an absolute picture, a great town with good accomm and food and even large trees, more friendly than Leh. Take an hour or two at Lamayuru to see the area from the hilltop, the road is very smooth tarmac nowadays. Not a fan of Pangong but many are.

I'd suggest looking at getting a return flight to Leh, have more time to see the sights less visited - like Stok, a few gompas and villages, the road to Wanla and Hanupatta, Sirsir La.

High driveable passes are all over the Himal, the highest are in Tibet, where the highest road in the world crosses the Aksai Chin - with around 140 kms over 5000m. The Tibetan ChangTang has 5500m passes in several places, like the Sangmo La above Tagyel Tso, and one near Yangpachen. good luck.

Start from Srinagar and get out through Leh , that way chance of getting AMS will go lower.
