Anyone know about their branch timing in Leh? Also where exactly it is located, any prominant landmark near by? If branch is opened and not that crowded, I may carry my Cheque book to withdraw cash from Branch directly rather than depending on ATM.

It's bang opposite to the Leh towns Gompa in the main Bazaar(market). As far as self cheques withdrawl is concerned its same with all the banks hence you should be able to do it. but as a secondary option do carry your debit card for ATM withdrawal.

Thanks Fundoo, I would surely carry Debit Cards with me and that would be primary option but in case it's having a queue or some tech snag, I was checking if I can rely on cheques. Now I am pretty sure all branches (even if it's in leh) for a bank like HDFC should be connected through core banking and withdrawing money from account of other branch shouldn't have any problem. Only thing that created some doubt is in HDFC Bank website when I query this branch in Leh, I can't see any IFSC Code for this branch which it must have if its connected to Banking network. Ideally if ATM is there, means it should be connected but not sure if ATM and branch connects to core banking in same fashion or not. I hope someone here would share first hand experience of withdrawing through a cheque in HDFC leh soon.

Well they have two machines and its pretty quick. I used my State Bank of Mysore debit card without any issues, but it had a withdrawal cap of Rs 10,000 per transaction.

Is the restriction just per transaction or it's per day too? Also would this cap be linked to your bank or for all bank's debit card, I am asking as I would be using a HDFC Gold debit card only where daily withdrawal limit usually is 50K. But if it is restricted then either I have to depend on cheques or carrying more cash.

The cap is for other banks' cards and it is per transaction, not per day.. So if you have a HDFC card, then no problem.
