Hi All,

This would be my second trip to Leh (last being in Sep-2007). Planning to go in the first week of October and this time around I am flying both ways.

Want to know how is the town/road and other conditions after the last year's calamity? Is everything back to normal?
Responses from those having been there recently would prove highly valuable.

Amit

Thanks a ton!
I have gone ahead with the plan flying into Leh town on 25th Sept. Return plans are kept open and if I find partners may be looking at driving out through Shrinagar (Manali-Leh having been covered in my first trip).

I was there a few weeks ago and there's very little to notice in and around the traveller areas of town and as mentioned above, you'll see the rebuilding efforts well underway and progressing well around the bus station. You'd likely need it pointed out to see the areas badly hit. Further out of town there are still some temporary relief agency offices, but you won't have any disruptions to your trip as a result really. A few minor bridges are being rebuilt but have steady traffic over the temporary ones, so again, no issue.
