Hi!

We are a group of five people who want to go on a trek to Prashar lake in April first week. Unfortunately we only have a day to do this. Is it possible for us to go see the lake and come back to base village in a day?

We are moderately fit and have some prior hiking experience. Also which is the best place to start the trek?

Thanks!

Roads will be open in April, provided it doesn't snow unexpectedly in March.

At all if you have to walk, start early from Mandi(first bus 6:30-7 AM) and then be at Baagi by 10. By there it will take 3-4 hours to reach top.

Hey Tarun. Thanks a lot for the quick reply. I do have a couple of more questions. we will be staying in Mandi the previous night. How much do you think a cab guy will charge us from Mandi to baagi? and i thought baagi is close to Mandi. why does it take 3 hrs to reach Baagi from Mandi?

If you are coming from Delhi, there are overnight buses that drop you at Mandi by 6 -6:30. So actually you dont have to stay in Mandi. If still you want to stay, then theere are lot of buses. A cab guy would charge close to 1k but I'm not sure never been a cab guy

I said 3 hours because the terrain is hilly and also buses keep stopping and waiting for passengers.

FYI a friend is just on his way to Parashar today. He got the first bus at 7:45. Will reach Baagi by 10 or so.

So I'd read your blog but I am a bit undecided. Ignoring the ease of access and convenience, which is a better hike? Baagi-Prashar or Pandoh to Prashar? I mean I would ideally like to go through some forest, encounter some streams/waterfalls etc.

I am saying climb from one side, get down from the other. Forests on both sides, not many streams. Both trails well marked.
