Hi Pakhee,

1> I followed this route - Shimla-Kullu-Manali and back. Not sure of the first route you asked for.
2> October surely is not a lean season for those destinations.
3> Please check the HPTDC website for Rohtang Pass information.
4> I traveled to Shimla from Kalka in a toy train.
5> My itinerary was:
Day 1 - Howrah to Kalka via Howrah-Kalka mail
Day 2 - In the train
Day 3 - Reached Kalka @4:30 am; took Rail Motor to Shimla; overnight stay at a hotel
Day 4 - Sightseeing and overnight stay
Day 5 - Took a bus to Manali; overnight stay
Day 6 - Sightseeing tour to Manikaran, Naggar; overnight stay at Manali
Day 7 - Took a bus to Rohtang; overnight stay at Manali
Day 8 - Took a bus to Shimla; overnight stay at Shimla
Day 9 - Took toy train to Kalka; boarded Kalka - Howrah
Day 10 - In the train
Day 11 - Arrived at Howrah

I would suggest you stay another day in Manali so that you can have three full days for sightseeing.

From Manali, instead of returning to Shimla, you can go to Chandigar - stay overnight, the following night take the train back home. During the day you can explore Chandigar.

I am a beginner with India Mike and happy to see a place like this to get suggestions.

On 17th of this month i m travelling to delhi and from their i will leave for Vaishno Devi. This is the first time I am going and that too alone. I want to Visit Kullu, Manali and Shimla.

Can anyone suggest how to fix up my schedule so that it cab be easy and the best way to explore all these places within a short period of time.
