Dear All,

We are willing to travel to Manali to beat the summers. We are 4 persons i.e me & my wife and senior citizen Parents and 1 kid ( 2 years). Our plan is to go in first week of June'18. We will be moving from Chandigarh by HRTC Volvo and plan to return same way.

Our initial Plan is as follows:

Day 1 ( Sunday) - Reach Manali . Have rest & in evening enjoy local sightseeing
Day 2 ( Monday) - Local Manali Sightseeing
Day 3 (Tuesday)- Local Manali Sightseeing and trip with parents to Gulaba
Day 4 ( Wednesday)- Me & My wife - Rohtang pass or if possible upto Sissu and back to Manali.
Parents & Kid - Local Sightseeing & Rest
Day 5 ( Thursday) - Move to Naggar. Visit Jana Water fall & Bijli Mahadev ( Through Naggar side by Gypsey)
Day 6 ( Friday ) - Move to Kasol. Sightseeing in Kasol.
Day 7 ( Saturday) - Manikaran Darshan & Back to Chandigarh.

On the above plan need suggestion on following :
1. As my father is a heart patient though fit and taking medicines. Thus planned my parents and kid to be at Manali only rather than taking tour to Rohtang Pass However wish if they can go. Please let me know is it safe to plan Rohtang pass with complete group.

2. If it is not safe for parents and kid then What could be the best mode to travel to Rohtang - Shared Taxi , Individual Taxi or HPTDC bus.

3. I heard lot of issue in getting taxi and unreasonable price charge. Is it true. Can i take permit in advance and negotiate with taxi driver who is not having permit.

4. If i can not take parents to Rohtang then upto which place they can go. I planned till Gulaba on Tuesday.

5. I heard June can be quite crowded and we may have to struggle for everything from auto to timely restaurant service. Should i postponed plan to July'18 will it help.

6. Is stay in Kasol not recommended with family. Which could be the good place for stay ( Budget 6000 for 2 rooms).

7. How is Keylong and its route from Manali. Should we plan to spend 2 nights in Keylong instead of Naggar & Kasol. Will we be having AMS issue.

8. I want to cover unexplored natural beauty for ateast 2 days of trip particularly because of Manali being crowded. Following places are in my mind

1. Mandi
2. Tirthan Valley - Ghushaini
3. Jhibhi
4. Keylong

Should i change my plan to cover any of the above place. if yes then how should we plan.

Regards

Hello All,

Group : 5 persons ( including 2 senior citizen & one child 2 years old)

Date of Travel - June 1st Week

The revised basic plan is as follows :

Day 1 : Move from Delhi to Chandigarh by car ( Morning ) , Have rest and catch the overnight HRTC bus to Manali.

Day 2 : Arrive at Manali, Check - in Hotel Greenfields. Have rest and in walk around mall road.

Day 3: Local sightseeing like Van Vihar , Hidamba Temple , Vashisht Temple and nearby Jogini Water fall.

Day 4 : Take cab and drive till Gulaba to enjoy scenic beauty ( This is Tuesday thus can not proceed further) . Return to Manali, Local Sightseeing and visit to Dhakpo Shedrupling Monastery.

Day 5: Visit to Rohtang Pass and bit more away & Back to Manali. ( Please let me know what else can i do if Rohtang pass is not possible for parents).

Day 6 : Leave Manali. Take Gypsy,Drop Luggage at Naggar hotel and leave for Jana Water fall and Bijli Mahadev . Return back to Naggar. ( Please suggest what time should i left from Manali & any good alternative to naggar castle for stay)

Day 7: Move to Kasol. Check- in hotel and walk around to enjoy the natural beauty.

Day 8: Visit Manikaran & Have Langar Prashad. Take cab to drive till Ghushani / Tosh to enjoy the natural beauty. Back to Bhunter and take evening Bus. ( Please suggest any good place as alternative to Tosh / Ghushani where in we can go by car )

Also suggest on following :

1. Am I missing something important in planning. Kullu i have not included intentionally.

2. Should I reduce a day of Manali or can keep as it to allow to have sightseeing without much pressure.

3. Should I add another day in last of my journey to have visit at Parashar lake. The plan can be any of the following :

Option 1 : Day 8 : Visit Manikaran & Move to Parshar lake by Cab & return to bus stand at Mandi to take bus to Chandigarh

Option 2 : Day 8 : Visit Manikaran & Move to Mandi. Checkin hotel.

Day 9 : Visit Famous temple in Mandi & Visit Parashar lake & take bus to Chandigarh.

Regards

You can do Day 3 on Day 2 itself. Jogini waterfalls involves a good hour or more trek (may be more for senior citizens) if my memory serves me right. I did not do it! If you are ok with communal bath - go prepared with towel etc for the hot spring bath at Vasisht

Day 3 you can do Rohtang. ATVs are available if you dont want your parents to take the pony ride, but the drive is not too smooth either.

Solang Valley is an option and so is the Rahalla water fall in and around Manali.
Not much beyond Manikaran, unless you plan to stay there at leisure. I wouldn't suggest a day trip. Actually Kasol and Manikaran can very well be combined on one day.
So I think you can add parashar by leaving the day prior after doing Kasol and Manikaran together and then reach Mandi.
Do note that trek is involved in Parashar Lake.
Sar Pass Trek , Rohtang, Munnar, Badrinath Kedarnath, Vaishnodevi, Goa, VOF, Kedarkantha, Kuari Pass, Brahmatal Trek

Snotty - was not considering to stay at Tosh or Ghushaini. I believe the places are more for youngsters and parents may have culture shock there.
