We were then, in a short, narrow and picturesque lane, opposite to Bagicha Restaurant.

Then we turned into Ramdhan Mitra Lane and saw many Bengali personalities’ homes, like the following is the house of Birendra Krishna Bhadra (7, Ramdhan Mitra Lane)

This Lane we found very interesting, following 3 are snaps of Ramdhan Mitra lane.
This may be the spot where a tea stall or laundry stall opens every day during morning and evening. Now during afternoon, it left only professional stains for us.

An old lady, may be inhabitant of this old but rich house, may be her only interaction with outer world is standing here for a few afternoon hours.

An interesting letter box, made by cutting a piece in the window frame of this ground floor room. Imagine, whenever a letter is dropped through this, it will reach directly on to someone’s bed room floor may be. How interesting!

At Duff Girls’ High School corner we took left into Balaram Ghosh St. Below is the excellent corner with lane names.

That time 10th Board exam were going on. The street was crowded with eager tensed guardians all over. We reached Shyampukur Police Station and to Shyambazar St. A pile of seized motorbikes were lying in front of the police station.

Just at that point of road, above our head, a very big tree made this design with its branches and leaves as the blue sky made its back ground.

On Shyambazar street, we got to see and capture kolkata’s unique rickshaw.

Then we took left and then turn right into K. C. Bose Road. At right hand side, Bagbazar old Reading Library can be seen. In front was Bhupen Bose Avenue. We Crossed it and took K.C. Bose lane on its opposite to reach a main road, Girish Avenue. Here we reached Bagbazar.
We took a little rest on a bench under a tree on pavement. This part of north Kolkata is very clean and nice looking. This cobbler man was waiting for a customer. But may have been waiting for long as early afternoon is too odd hour for a shoe polish or mending requirement.

This old nice building was bang on the main road.

The little white dressed girl requested me to take their photo too, but when I focused camera on them, they got ashamed and had hidden their face. The elder one said, photographed by unknown people may prove harmful for them. So they should not.

We turned right into Ramkanta Bose St and then turned left into Bose Para Lane/Ma Saradamani Sarani. There this red and green house attracted our attention.

We wanted to see the 115 yr old House of Sister Nivedita (16A Bosepara Lane), but it was under renovation. So fully covered and could not get a glimpse from outside. A local man told that, it is under renovation for years, they do not know why it is taking so much time.

This laundry stall was having an afternoon break nearby.

At right from sister Nivedita’s house, lies Kalinath Bose's House (47B Bosepara Lane) , which is the first house in Bagbazar to be blessed with the footsteps of Sri Sri Ramkrishna Dev.

Then we came out to Girish Avenue again and had a tea break at a super clean tea stall of a passionate seller.

After the break we took Bagbazar St at right and walked leisurely towards Bagbazar Bata. As far as I remember, this shabbily beautiful house balcony was seen at the first left lane, Haralal Mitra Street.

Another green front door of a house.

During this North Kolkata walk, I noticed maximum of the old rich buildings are painted red and their windows and doors are dark green. I wonder why, is there any history or tradition behind it? Does anyone know?

The following red and green well maintained building attracted us again with its awesome chemistry with the tree. The tree with its branches and shadows more glorified and beautified the building.

Take a look at the decoration of the front door of an old house cum shop of gold buyer and seller.

Opposite was this interesting part of footpath, where still newspapers are hanged or pasted for passer byes to read. It had interesting colored backdrop too.

Wow a narrow lane under buildings and opens into another area.

Once a renowned building no doubt, but now carries the shadow of it, lovely building.

On the way found another Saturday photowalker.

We now walked back and crossed Girish Avenue to wards Ganga through Bagbazar St. This part of Bagbazar street is different from the other part on the opposite side of Girish Avenue. As it approaches Ganga, bajar and many small and big temples are seen in this area.

We crossed Bajrangbali temple, Gouriya Math, Girish Manch, Ramkrishna Lane, Bagbazar Durgapuja Field. Then crossed another main road Rabindra Sarani.

Most of the photographs are dark. Mane, the theme is very dark. So is light purposeful ? Or dark light make photograph dark ?

"Dark Light?"
Oh what a romantic combination Bristi ....

Anyway, actually there are two reasons I think.

1. The time of the day was Afternoon, when in front of the sun means too much golden bright light and under some shadow means too much of darkness. May be most of the time, we took shadowy lanes.

2. I love "Dark light" as you said.
Actually I increased contrast in most of the photos to bring out the darkness of the photos. I would like to learn low light photography.
