Yatri niwas are normally very good options at low budget

I went to the Yatri Nivas at Howrah in 2004. I was arriving by train at 6am and I thought it would be convenient to use get an early prepaid taxi to the airport the following morning.

You had to fill out a form, then wait till 9.30am and listen out for your name being called, whereupon you got to fill out another form or two, and hand your passport in. Then you had to wait again and eventually I got my room at 11am.

After all that, the room wasn't even clean, and it's also pretty noisy overlooking the area in front of the station. Hopefully it's improved since then but I haven't been back.

Howrah Hotel is a good option if they have finished the repairs they were making last year. In the Hotel Listing you have details about this hotel. The area is quite dirty but..., take the best room in the hotel and take it easy.
