Hi,

we are planning to drive to Wayanad - 6 adults 2 kids 1 dog , incl my dad who is 80. How is the weather there, and are the roads good? How long does it take from bangalore?

Also we are tentatively booked into Wayanad Blooms, how is the place?

Wayanad should be quite cool and pleasant in December. Roads between Chennai and Wayanad are quite good upto Gundlupet and mixed thereafter (I assume you'd be driving via Bangalore - right ?). Right now the roads after you cross into in Kerala are not in the best of conditions thanks to the heavy monsoon this year, but there's a possibility that it may be repaired in early December (in view of the Sabarimala season).

Also be very careful driving on the Bangalore-Mysore road (SH17), it generally has very heavy traffic, crazy drivers trying to overtake each other from left, right and center and dozens of (unmarked) killer speed-breakers that come up when you least expect it ! As an alternate you could take NH-209 from Bangalore to Chamarajnagar and go from there directly to Gundlupet (without touching Mysore). Excellent road most of the way and very sparse traffic, so it should be stress-free drive.

No idea about how good Wayanad Blooms is. I've been to the place once and saw their cottages and tree-house. Looked decent, but one wouldn't really know how good it is unless you stay there. It's slightly out of the way, in a place called Kenichira about 20 kms from the main towns of Sulthan Bathery and Kalpetta.
