Dear friends,
I have heard that backwater boat service is not available from Quilon to Alleppi. If not so can you please let me know the travel cost through tourist boat from Quilon to Alleppi? Please let me know the travel details as well.

Best wishes,
Atanu

No boat on that route EXCEPT in August. However, the bus is pretty pleasant and doesn't take too long. Did it yesterday.
Long term traveler, India newbie.

Thanks for valuable information. What will be the cost or the service at all available if we travel from Kottayam to Cochin?

Best wishes,
Atanu

We need some serious clarification in this thread.

Have GOVERNMENT run boats stopped running between Kollam and Alleppey?

Is it the public ferries?

Is it because of the monsoon?

or

Have the local authorities (or the monsoon) stopped all houseboats from operating between Kollam and Alleppey?

(I would also like to know about Kottayam-Kochi backwater cruises, and any company that rents houseboats in November for this sector)
