Is there any other route better than NH 17 for kerla. If yes which NH and what all places are available on the way.

From here as per my knowledge there is either NH 4 that goes to kolhapur via pune or NH 17.

Will you be driving all the way?

If you first decide which destinations you intend visiting, it will be easier to plan road routes. NH17 basically goes along the coastal regions, and NH4 from the inland route. We did a road trip to Kerala from Bombay many years ago and did both routes. As I said, it depends where you want to go to.

Also visit Team Bhp and Bsmotoring sites for latest updates on road conditions from people who have done these routes, as in many stretches there is 4 lane work in progress.

Unfortunately (or fortunately )NH-17 is the shortest route entering Kerala at Kasargod. The other route will be go to Pune. Pick up NH-4 to Bangalore, NH-7 to Salem, NH-47 to Kerala entering in Palghat.

Though NH-17 is single carriage way throughout, it is one of the most sceanic of roads in India as it closely follows the coastline. The Konkan belt is also a treat.
