Road conditions Bangalore to Quilon

Hello fellow travelers & local members from Kerala,

Need some advise on the route from Quilon to Bangalore.

Is it better to drive via Madurai or Cochin, considering time taken
road conditions & density of Traffic.
NH 47 has always over crowded & it like fighting thru dense city conditions.

Any one driven thru NH 208 in the recent month?

From what I read in another forum, there are a lot of diversions (they are tarred though) between Avinashi and Coimbatore. The road between palakkad and Thrissur is better than how it was 2-3 months back after the monsoons. No first hand experience though.

I would be doing NH47 in 2 weeks and hope to see better roads albeit nothing can be done to the traffic density [whoa]

Thanks, that was areal help, finished the journey in less than 10hrs.
To all wanting to drive to areal closer to Kollam, forget the overcrowded NH 47, but off-course the toll is certainly more, but do BLR madurai 450+Kms in less than 4& 1/2 hrs.
