We are couple with 2 kids aged 7 month and a 2.5 yr. I have come up with 2 options to visit Kerela for 7Days. Please suggest which option is better with less stress on the road.

Option - A {Approx KM. for this trip is: 700 KM}

Day-1 - Fly from Delhi to Kochi stay @ Kochi
Day-2 - Take a taxi to Munnar - 4 Hours (140KM)
Day-3 - Munnar Sightseeing
Day-4 - Munnar to Kovlam - 8 Hours (300KM)
Day-5 - Kovlam to Kanyakumari - 2 Hours (90KM)
Day-6 - Kanyakumari to Allepey - 6.5 Hours (250KM)
Day-7 - Allepey to Kochi - 1 Hours (50KM)
Day-8 - Fly back to Delhi from Kochi

Option - B {Approx KM. for this trip is: 700 KM}

Day-1 - Fly from Delhi to Kochi stay @ Kochi
Day-2 - Take a taxi to Munnar - 4 Hours (140KM)
Day-3 - Munnar Sightseeing
Day-4 - Munnar to thekkady - 3 Hours (90KM)
Day-5 - Thekkady to Kovlam & Kanyakumari - 6 Hours (220KM)
Day-6 - Kovlam to Allepey - 5 Hours (160KM)
Day-7 - Allepey to Kochi - 1 Hours (50KM)
Day-8 - Fly back to Delhi from Kochi

Do you want to go to Kanyakumari? The roads are not great and it does take some time covering the distance. Also it takes time to see the sights as well.

You may have to take a call at either including Kanyakumari or skipping coming back to Kochi and departing from Trivendrum.
I had planned a similar schedule for my parents
Day 1 - Munnar
Day 2 - Munnar
Day 3 - Thekkady
Day 4 - Kumarakom (which can be skipped)
Day 5 - Allepey
Day 6 - Kovalam
Day 7 - Kanyakumari
DAy 8 - Depart from Trivendrum.

PS -If you can believe it - this was cross posted with Aarosh!
Sar Pass Trek , Rohtang, Munnar, Badrinath Kedarnath, Vaishnodevi, Goa

Then Day 1 could be - the Athirapally and other waterfalls followed by elephant centers at Kodanad/Kaprikad.
Day 2 - Munnar
Day 3 - Munnar
Day 4 - Thekkady
Day 5 - Allepey - Day boating, stay on land.
Day 6,7 - Kochi
Day 8 - Back.

Thanks guys, but is there a way to accommodate Kovlam? I really want to see the beaches.... Backwaters don't attract me much And is Kochi really worth 2 days?

Kochi has loads depending on how much you want to see..
There are excellent backwater tours from the government agency in Kochi, so that can be done if you want to give allepey a miss. These are of shorter durations.
If you do want beaches - do NOT consider Cherai - we regretted going there.
Kovalam is too far just for going for one attraction.
Allepey beach is supposed to be not bad and if you want, then Varkala is closer than Kovalam.

As mentioned earlier Varkala is near Kovalam. If you are okay to skip Kovalam then what is the point to go all the way to Varkala.

There are a few beaches closer to Ernakulam / Cochin. You could consider them.

I found the beach near the town of Alleppey not very rewarding.
During our stay we did a day trip to the so called 'Secret beach' situated near a small village Kattoor. There was some simple accommodation.

You can go to Kuzhupilly beach in Vypin island. It is near to Cherai only.

Have you completed your trip already?
Being a Keralite, I would suggest that Munnar and Aleppey are the two spots you must not miss in Kerala (Keralam). Beaches you can find anywhere, but you wont find a Hill Station like Munnar and Backwater like Aleppey (Alappuzha) elsewhere. . Also you may think of spending one or two day in Cochin.

Including Kovalam and Kanyakumari would be really a tight schedule, you will be travelling for most of the time. Also Roads in Kerala are really crowded since density is high in Kerala.

Ain't Wayanad and Kumarakom better if not equal to Munnar and Alleppey?

Allepey beach is pretty good, Then there is Marrari Beach not far from Allepey and in the direction of heading back to Kochi from Allepey.

As someone has mentioned you will spend a lot of time on the road if you go to Kovalam & Kanyakumari.

Thekady is OK take your kids to Elephant Junction whilst there.

You will need 2 nights in Munnar, after travelling for 4 hrs you won't want to do much when you first get to Munnar but relax. Leave Munnar by 9am for Thekady, same for Thekady as for Munnar 2 nights then head down to Allepey.

@aarosh, FYI Kumarakom is mostly upmarket high end resorts.
