Hi,

we are travelling to Kerala in January, it will be our first time in India.

As we are planning to stay in Munnar for 4 days for doing some plantation/safari tours we would like to know what is the best way regarding transports and sightseeing to/in Munnar:

- Should we keep our Ambassador with driver for 4 days after the transport from Cochin to Munnar (this is the advice the tour agency we contacted gave us, as it would be too expensive to send him back to Cochin)

OR

- Should we send the driver home, book Jeep tours via the Resort (this we planned to do as we thought they might know better the surroundings of Munnar and the Jeeps are more comfortable in the mountains) and then book a new driver after 4 days

Thank you so much in advance for a reply and greetings from Germany,

Kitti

Hi, Welcome to Kerala. The drivers charge the return fare to kochi if you are hiring him from here to munnar, since they will not get a new fare from munnar. Each place has its own resident tour operators, and if he has to come back empty (which they claim, but not always true)he say he needs to be paid for it. So if you intend to return to kochi then keep the car. The drivers charge around 200rs for the night halt per night. They will manage their food and accommodation.(they usually sleep in the car itself). If you hire another car in munnar and then one to kochi you have to pay the return fare again. So you end up paying for two trips which you never did.

Hi there,

I also agree with keeping the same driver.

The approx cost should be around 1,500rps per day,
This will INCLUDE driver's own Accom & Meals and will ALSO include daily sightseeing in & around Munnar.

Rgds
