we are reaching Kochi on 19 Nov 01:00 PM & Return on 25 Nov Night train from Kochi. Start and end dates are fixed. We are couple with 02 kids( 7 yr & 4 yr old).

First time in south india & help to plan itenary between these dates.
My high level plan is Kochi-- Munnar-- kodaikanal --Thekkady -- Alleppey/Kumarakom-- Kochi

Suggest if we can skip or add any other places besides I mentioned above
want to spend more time in Hills.. Please suggest itenary which best suites for us considering kids - it should not be very hectic.
Also suggest stay options & travel options between these places which are not so costly( Hotel max 2000 per day)

@Abhi,

At the minimal, you may skip kodaikanal (As it's a long travel from kerala and after visiting Munnar, kodaikanal might not be very impressive). Also you may skip thekkady (As it's 100% similar to munnar and the only MAIN attraction is boating in the lake)

Alleppey and Kumarakom are towns on opposite sides of same Vembanad lake and alleppey is more lively , have more economical stay options, have more budget restaurants and have option of more bargaining in houseboats/ Shikkara rides. Kumarakom is more laid back, with 90% of stay are with very high premium and based on our stays, I could say everything is at PREMIUM rates in Kumarakom side when compared to Alleppey side. So choose Alleppey.

A Sample itenary I could think of:

19' sep : Rest
20,21,22' Sep - Hire Cab for 2 nights/3 days and explore Munnar. If you want to save a Bit of cost, you may try Cochin - Munnar in Bus followed by booking tour packages (operated out of munnar) OR hire a cab and make your own iternary
23'sep - Get a bus to alleppey from Munnar/ Thekkady(As the case may be) and plan for 1 night/day at houseboat Or stay at a hotel and do shikara ride (you may search with my id and you can see detailed write up on the shikara part and the comparision with houseboats). IF time permits, visit alleppey beach .If you are religiously inclined, extend your stay for a day and you could do Alleppey-Chakkulathukavu bhagavathy temple(Very Nice temple) - Mannarsala nagaraja temple(Best place in kerala for Naga Dosha - Similar to Kukke subrahmanya of karnataka - Ambalapuzha Krishna temple ( Similar to Guruvayoorappan temple)-Alleppey
24'-25 Sep - Alleppey to Kochin. Stay at Fort kochi area for nice ambience and all or most of the tourist spots of kochin lies in fort kochi only and you may explore Kochin for this 2 days.

Based on my travel experiences,

Munnar :- Emmell dwellings (Go for super deluxe room ) --> Try out in makemytrip and book for maximum 1500 / night (including breakfast). FYI, We got it for 1000 / night in offer. In munnar, better to stay in munnar town / KSRTC bus stand area
Thekkady : Jungle palace homestay (you can view the sanctuary from the balcony of this homestay and it's super big and very economical) --> Book for maximum 900 /Night (without Breafast) .FYI, we got it for 780 /night . In thekkady, better to stay in Kumily bus stand-Thekkady road
Alleppey :- Houseboat No experience. For stay, Nova holidays cottage ( Big cottage room with living room, Fridge, TV,balcony, free nice breakfast)--> Book for max 2500 INR/Night .FYI, we got it for 1800 / night. In Alleppey, better to stay in "Punnamada road".
Fort Kochi (Cochin):- Fort beach service apartment (Very high end apartment with centralized AC, Full fledged kitchen, TV, DVD player,Books) - It's 1 Bed room out of the 3 BHK with common living room, kitchen . Very very near to Fort kochi beach and is close to main tourist spots of fort kochi--> Book for max 1100 / night . FYI, We got it for 2000 / night (That's 2 years back and now prices are showing less). In cochin, better to stay in "Fort Kochi" area.

Munnar/Thekkady dont need AC and other places opt for AC accomodation.
Hope this is of some help.

If you need more info, please post.

Thanks @pmvelu..
Form your post & general R&D - I am planning to drop Koadaikanal & Thekkady . I want a relaxing trip. So my revised plan is :
19 Nov 01:00 PM Reach Kochi
stay in kochi - sightseeing on 19th & 20th
21st depart to Munnar & reach by noon
22 & 23 at Munnar only
24 Morning Munnar to Alleppey .
25 evening Allepy to Kochi & catch night train back

See of this trip is ok.. then I need your advice to stay (which all areas in these cities) at all these places ( economical not more than 1500-2000 per day) & travel between these places.
I googled & found that AC buses run between these( Kochi to munnar,Munnar to Alleppey & Allepy to Kochi back).
Also tell what all I should visit at these places. How to travel locally etc..

I assume you are arriving by train as well.
If it is a flight arrival then consider going to Munnar first and then return to Kochi while going back.

If you are on budget, the backwater tours organized by the KTDC are a good alternative for a house-boat trip.
