Hi guys,

This is my first thread. I am getting married in January. And planning to go for honeymoon in the end of January. I am so so confused about the honeymoon. Any help is much appreciated.

Please find the attachment of the package I got from one tourist operator. I am interested to go with Deluxe package which is 33300.

Is it good package in this price? What about all hotels mentioned there?

Is there any alternative to this package? Other deal where I can save some money?

Too many questions. Sorry for that.

Similar trip

Congrats Janak.

I think it is a good itinerary and good price.

I am also going to Kerala for my honeymoon in 1st week of Feb-2012. I also have very similar itinerary and almost similar price. Only difference is I have 1 night stay in Kovalam and I will be coming back to Kochi to catch my flight.

How much are you paying for air tickets and how are you booking your tickets?

Hi champdilse,

Are you planning yourself or with any tour operator?

I haven't booked flights yet. Have you booked yours? From where did you book and how much does it cost? Let me know your itinerary.

Thanks

Janak

Hello Janak

We can help make the perfect honeymoon (though we can't supply the bride), but we need to know lots more details.

How will you get to/from Kerala, what airports/train stations (most trains are probably waitlisted)

What places are important for you to visit, and why?

Munnar will be cold, and Periyar doesn't get the most impressive reviews.

Personally, I think the overnight houseboats are very overated, on the other hand, when you see them, you feel you'd love to hire one, staying in a cool backwater retreat, and hiring the smaller country boats, or even small boats to row yourself, are much better and cheaper options, and the Rs8000 saved could lead to an unforgettable backwater hotel upgrade.

Kovalam is still lovely, I love the place, but my Mrs didn't like it, much to busy for a honeymoon, there are beach places near to Alleppey, and this keeps your trip withing striking distance of Kochi for more train/flight options.

So why do you want to visit each place, and if you were forced to remove one destination, what would it be?

Consider landing in Kochi (or train to Kottayam) and heading direct to one of the hill places, then a nice backwater retreat for a few days then a beach near Alleppey and back home from Alleppey/Kochi.

Thanks steven_ber,

I must say you're very helpful.

Let me tell you my interest in visiting places in Kerala.

I will be flying from Gujarat. So which would be good terminal to land ( Trivandrum or Cochin )?

Places I want to visit.

Cochin
Munnar
Thekkady
Alleppey
Is there any other "must visit" place remained? I would like to take backwater experience.

8 days I will have in my trip.

Do you reckon to go with any travel operator or I should organize everything myself? As this is my honeymoon trip I don't want it to ruined up by making mistake if I organize it myself.

So could you please tell me best hotels in all above places and how many days should I stay in each places?

Once again thanks a ton for your kind reply and lot appreciation.

Regards,
Janak

I think you're missing the point.

You'll see a lot of Kerala, and a lot of the inside of a Keralan bus or taxi, and a lot of your luggage as you open/close and carry it everywhere, very stressful, but the amount of quality time with your new wife will be very limited.

Kerala, like many women, just can't be rushed, you'd miss all that is wonderful about Kerala, and perhaps all that is wonderful about your wife.

Thanks steven_ber,

So you mean I need to spend less time in travelling and more in staying at one place, if I'm not getting your words wrongly.

Tell me one or two best places of all above, which could be best for honeymooners.

Thanks

Regards,
Janak

Janak,

If you want to do just 2-3 places in 8 days, I would suggest, Munnar 3 nights, backwaters 1 night and 2 nights in Alleapy or Kovalam.

I will be flying from Ahmedabad to Kochi because flights to Trivendrum are not that frequent and there is long wait in Mumbai for connecting flight.

I have booked my tour through a friend of mine and here is my itineary.

Day 1
Cochin

DAY 02
DAY 03
MUNNAR

DAY 04
THEKKADDY

DAY 05
ALLEPPEY (back waters overnight)

DAY 06
Kovalam.

DAY 07
return drop off at Trivandrum/Cochin international airport/Railway station as per your time convenience.

I know some people will say it is too much rush, but if I am going to Kerala then why not enjoy Kerala to the fullest.

We both love to visit new places and my this Itineary is mix of everything, Hill station in Munnar, Wild life in Thekkady, Back waters in Alleapy and beach in Kovalam.

I ain't going to Kerala again and again so better cover it all and if your tour is organized by an agent you don't need to worry about anything else but enjoy the Honeymoon.
