I have 6 days in Kerala in early August and I'm starting in Kochi. I have my first 3 or so days planned in and around Kochi, but I'm trying to get a little beach time in even though its still monsoon, so rain may be an issue. I'm considering either staying 2 extra days in Kochi, but head to Cherai beach for a day before flying out of Kochi or heading down to Varkala and spending 2 days there before flying out of Trivandrum.

Assuming that the weather cooperates, I'm hoping to get a little sunbathing in and having access to some sort of nightlife during those 2 days (nothing crazy, but being able to get some drinks after dinner). Any thoughts on which plan is better?

Hi sweetmer26
There is not much rain now days. Your plan sounds good. Spend more time in Fort kochin, im sure you will love. Check out Dal Roti at lilly street its a nice restaurant. When compared to varkala beach cherai is bit boring. In Trivandrum make sure you visit the famous temple which is on every news headline Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple, you can also check out kovalam beach try restaurans (fusion and beetles) enjoy.

there are lots of non-touristy beaches further north of Cherai and Vypin area. They are really worth exploring.
