Hi,

Am planning to visit Kerala in last week of Oct. Could someone kindly suggest 3/4 star hotels for the following locations pls:

1) Munnar: range around Rs 3-4k per day, preferably in a tea plantation.

2) Thekkady: Around 3k, no specific criteria

3) Alleppey: 3-4k, preferably with a pool.

3) Kovalam / Varkala / any other beach: Rs 3 - 5k per day, should have a swimming pool.

Any help / suggestions would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Go to Following link and click on the various places on the right hand side.

http://www.indiamike.com/india-hotel...la-hotels-s12/

One Place that is not listed in the Munnar section and does have what you are looking for re inside a tea estate, I think is
Called Windemere Estate.have seen some very good reviews somewhere on that one, maybe try Tripadvisor.

In Munnar, I really liked the Olive Brook, which is set in cardamom plantations.

For pics, see here.

Edited post: Deleted mistaken directions!

Gautam,
It was in 2006! But I think around the 3000 Rs mark.

Edited to add:

Food was delicious and included in the daily rate.

My personal reccomendations for your instance are

1) Munnar - Tall Trees Resort or Olive Brook (same Area)

2) Thekady - Ambadi Hotel

3) Allepey - Prince Hotel has a pool. The other one in Allepey that I can suggest with a pool is Raheem Residency BUT it's NOT in your price range.

BTW theyyam, just thought I should mention it as memory can sometimes can play tricks, Top Station is not near Olive Brook,it
is past Matupetty Dam direction.

For Munnar, lots of nice places after you cross the bridge at the dam...beautiful winding road through cardamom plantations, 1000% nicer than staying in town, and easy to book rickshaws to come and get you. I stayed at Ranger Woods, nice people, excellent food...they have two places, one nearest the owner's house (I liked that best), and another place up the road, which I found a bit cramped and airless, but both nice, 2000/night for two people (Feb 2011), so quite a good deal. They know rickshaw drivers that can take you on tea plantation walks and non-touristy areas...they are nice reliable guys. That whole "tourist" thing up to Top Station is not really very nice, IMO...but Munnar area is beautiful, I took a MILLION pics!

A more Clearer Pic of Olive Brook, taken in the same year theyyam was visiting, 2006.

Second Pic is of Deshadan Mountain Resort, the Highest Resort in Sth India, it's at the end of the road which runs past Olive Brook and Tall Trees Resort.

Third Pic is Tall Trees Resort, surrounded by Huge Forrest. You can see the Cardamom bushes in the Foreground.

I could easily handle a few nights at All three.
