Hello Group,

Hi..I am new to this forum. Found you guys just recently while planning for my honeymoon.
Your posts have been so beneficial and helpful. I love travelling, and seem to have hit the right group of people for much needed advice. Thanks guys.

I have never been to Kerala, and wanted this to be the special place for my travel. After reading through your posts I stumbled upon the recommended site keralagreenery.org

I mailed them at kg@ kgindia.org ,
malabar7@ eth.net and have got a reply from kg..

I seem to like the package, just wanted some advice from you guys. Have any of you used the services of KG before? Do you think it is reliable and has a good quality of service. Are the reasonable in terms of money and do you think I can get a better deal somewhere else.

Need your advice bros..please.

Gags...

As Kiranlal wrote, if you send details of price and hotels, it would be easier to evaluate.
Several of us IMers have used, been happy with, and written about another travel agent who does many itineraries for the south (Write back for specifics).
Is this the honeymoon trip you refer to--or was that previously? IN any case, congratulations on your marriage!

I can recall someone using this same Tour Operator and gave a very
favourable Review.

They seemed very happy withe the Houseboat experience.

When I get some time I'll try and go back and find the review.

Transport costs look fine for 6 days A/C car and driver. I'd check out the hotels and see what posted nightly rates are, and what the reviews say . They average out to Rs 6000 a night which is towards the high end for India, but they may be high end establishments.

what you and your Bride deserve on your Honeymoon.

The itinery is also good.

sounds great...and some ideas

Hey Gags!!

The price sounds good!

However, as Hal said, don't commit to those particular hotels until you read reviews (e.g. Tripadvisor.com).
At that level of hotels, there are others that are supposed to be excellent also: Blackberry Hills nr Munnar (closer to the town than Club Mahindra) with very beautiful scenery and private cottages, or Spice Village nr Thekkady (which i think is closer to Periyar than is Cardomom County-- a bit of a drive from the game park). Isay "supposed to be" as i have not yet been. BUt come next year... (-;

Check out their web sites, as well as reviews on the above site.

For a post-honeymoon trip, may i take the liberty of recommending Kurumba Village near Coonoor and Ooty? It is fantastic, and there were happy honeymoon couples there. It was enough to make me want to get married again!

Happy Travels! May you have a wonderful wedding and marriage!

http://www.indiamike.com/india/keral.../2/#post679402

plese read the above thread. not to scare you...but just to be sure you have ALL details (what you pay for, type of hotel room, etc) of the trip IN WRITING! Especially check on the type of houseboat.

oops--one more thing

what day of the week will you be in Cochin? Note that the Synapgogue is closed Friday and Saturday, and the Mattancherry Palace on Friday (or maybe they were just doing construction then).

Hi There,

Rebeccam is correct with the Accomadation choices being a way bit out of town, this also includes Le Merriden in Kochi.May I suggest the Old Harbour Hotel in Fort Cochin or maybe Taj Malabar on Willingdon Island. Pretty sure they would be in same price range.

Le Merriden is a fair way out of Kochi.

As for Munnar, have a look at Shamrock - Olive Brook - Tall Trees,
All 3 are close to each other and not very far out of Munnar Town.Personally I feel that Tall Trees is Perfect for Honeymooners with their Private cottages and lovely gardens for
strolling around.

As for Thekady Area, Spice Village is good but not cheap, BUT it
is close to Periyar park, so is Ambadi Heritage Hotel, which I
Believe is excellent value with a wonderfull restaraunt.

Have a good look at the Houseboat when you first arrive and let
them know IF it's not up to what you expected. If you are not
satisifed with houseboat,DEMAND another one.

Rgds

Hello friends,

Guys, extremely sorry for this delay in replying. I was extremely busy in office. Phew!! just survived a laying off drive this week. Its pretty scary these days.

Anyhow....firstly, thanks a lot to everyone for giving me such amazing suggestions. My wife to be, was pleasantly suprised to know that I have made new friends across the globe who are helping me plan my honeymoon .

Rebeccam, yes that was a nice suggestion. I am looking at something else in Munnar than ClubMahindra. Vandy has suggested some amazing places like Tall Trees and Olive Brook.
Also thanks for the link you gave, will try and be more cautious.

Regarding Thekkady, i guess Spice village is expensive, Cardamom County seemed a nice place, I guess I'll stick to that. Until I find a reasonable good hotel near Periyar park.

I will keep you guys posted about what I finally decide. send in your suggestions if you think of anything else. Another thing which I am not sure was answered....What do you think about the travel coordinator. Any posts about the reliability of this guy.Vandy..did you find something?

Ok..am off now! Looking forward to your replies.

Gags
