Advice on houseboat quote
Hi there,
I am travelling to Kerala in February 2018 and my partner and I are planning to take an overnight houseboat from Allappuzha to Kollam.
There are a number of houseboat operators offering different itineraries but most don't display tariffs.
Southern Backwaters have quoted 26 000 rupees for a one bedroom houseboat for 2 people.
Has anyone had experience with Southern Backwaters? Can you advise whether this price is standard?
Would be keen to hear your thoughts/or if you have experience with Southern Backwaters or can recommend other houseboat operators that offer this option.
Thanks

Thanks for providing the link Aarosh. This thread doesn't deal with specifics of my questions indeed, it seems the poster was also confused as to whether the quoted prices represented good value. Would appreciate if anyone had experience with Southern Backwaters or could comment on the quality of the experience compared to other houseboat operators.

Wasn't other recommendations mentioned in that link?
I think the poster also mentioned that it was a good idea to first have a look at the house boat and then book it, instead of booking online.

We did not make the Kollam - Alleppe trip by a house-boat, but with the daily ferry of the Southern Backwaters.
It is a rather long trip, mostly over large lakes and broad canals, with just a break for lunch and chai. At the end it started to become somewhat boring.
Of course you have more time on an overnight journey to explore the environment but I doubt if it is worth the extra money.
