Hi all,

We are planning a trip from Bangalore to Wayanad.

We have planned it all of a sudden. We will be leaving on Friday evening, and return Bangalore by Sunday night, or Monday morning.

We would like to visit places of natural beauty, enjoying the weekend with nature, secluded and serene. We have always seen pictures of coffee plantations, lush green hills, smoky-misty roads. And now we got a nice holiday this weekend. We do not like crowds and hassles. We have planned it as follows:

27.05.11
- Leave bangalore at 5pm
- Reach Kalpetta
- Night stay

28.05 2011
- Soochipara Falls
- Lunch
- Edakkal Caves
- Pookot Lake
- Nightstay at Kalpetta

29.05.2011
- Start early
- Meenmutti Falls
- Chembara Peak
- Lunch
- Banasur Sagar Dam
- Return / Nightstay

I would like to know the following things:

1. What route shall we take to travel at night?
2. Will we get accommodation at Kalpetta after reaching there late night? If not, then please suggest some low budget hotels so that we can book it from Bangalore (expected budget: below Rs. 400 for double-bed)
3. Is the itinerary feasible?
4. Is there anything else we can visit en-route?
5. Is the weather ok for the short trip?
6. Am I missing anything?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Cheers,
banskt

I found a very very sad news...

http://www.indiamike.com/india/keral...201-a-t133760/

How much is it going to affect Wayanad? Will we be able to hit the roads for sight seeing? I reckon that this can be a good opportunity to travel without the bustling crowds...
Am I right?

You can add Kanthapara Falls and Phantom Rock to the itinerary. When I went there these places were pretty nice and much less crowded. Not sure about the routes.

A short travelogue on our weekend trip to Wayanad

Dear all,

Thanks for all your help, we had a nice trip to Wayanad. And here is a short travelogue:
http://www.banskt.com/blog/wondrous-wayanad/

Thanks,
banskt

N.B. I was confused whether I should create a new post or shall post the link to the already existing thread (but then, the title would have been misleading). So, I did both. I created this new thread, and also posted in the previous thread. If it against the forum rules I would request the mods to take the appropriate action.
