3days kochi-munnar-allepy-kochi?

Hi,
have been looking for help with planning a 3-day trip to kerala..
we wd be reaching kochi at arnd 12pm. planning to directly head from the airport to Munnar whic wd be around 3.5 hrs drive say we reach at around 5 to munnar, put up there and next day cover the places in and around and go to allepy. just cruise around for some time and reach kochi and spend the night there.
visit places in and around kochi within half day and get back to kochi airport by 1pm.

is this a good one? basically we r 2 friends coming for the first time to kerala. and have only 3 days..a friday mnign to sunday afternoon..
also the package qoted by SOTC is costing us nearly 20k! which i feel is way to expensive.. are the hotels and travellingin kerala so expensive??
wd appreciate any pointers for reasonbly good hotels and travel options..

Hi gaya33

I't rushed but can be done.

Are you sharing room with your friend ?

Munnar Inn is a reasonable option in Munnar.Very central.
In Munnar you can visit Tea Museum and also Matupetty Dam area.

I also suggest you keep your car and driver for your journey,
expect to pay approx 1,400 - 1,500rps per day for A/C car,Indigo

You Cannot go Allepey to Cochin on Houseboat if that's what you were thinking, only around Lake area, you may be better off taking a Country Boat for a 3 - 4 hr cruise in Smaller canals. lot cheaper than Houseboat.Cost for country boat is approx 300 - 500 rps per hour.

Suggest you stay in Fort Cochin for your short stay.

I agree with most of Vandys suggestions but not sure about the Munnar Inn. I stayed there and the service was not good - a waiter stopped taking our breakfast order to take a call on his mobile and came back 15 minutes later! Also we had cockroaches scurrying across our table at breakfast. The deluxe room was not clean and the shower did not work properly. There are plenty of cheaper and possibly better places to stay just outside the town centre.

Re Munnar Inn ?

Maybe consider Isaccs Residency as an Alternative instead, have not seen any bad reports about them.

Also there is Kaippallil Guesthouse which overlooks the Town, it is located near the Big White Catholic Church.

Isaacs Residency is fine - a bit more expensive but I have found they will negotiate on rates. If you book there ask for a room that overlooks the town. Staff very helpful andfood was O.K.

I would recommend AyurCounty Resorts/Chancellor Resorts in Chinnakanal (Did I spell it correctly?). You can get them close to the rates that you'll pay for Munnar Inn (may be you try makemytrip for this booking). But its location is fabulous. There are other better hotels like Club Mahindra, but they are a bit on the expensive side. I think going to Kumarakom or Allepey the next day would be nice. If you have the budget, you can stay in houseboat for the night and then reach Kochi the next day. You may also stay the night at Kumarakom or Allepey. In Kumarakom, we stayed in a budget place called Coconut Creek, which was pretty nice. Otherwise, there are a number of good resorts there. I think you'll get a decent houseboat for 5-6K.

Hi

20K is way too much for a 3 day tour.My suggestion would be

a) First day go to munnar

b) Second day travel to Allepy stay at a resort and hire a house boat for the day cruise or crusie in the boats at the resort slow ones will be cheaper speed boats a bit expensive

c) Third day do some sightseeing in Allepy

d) fourth day check out and travel to cochin I am assuming you are taking the jetlite flite from hyderabad I had done the same circuit and had a car for the entire trip.LEt me know if you need any help with the booking can refer you the guys that helped with the car etc
