10 day road trip to kerala
My husband and I are planning to drive from Bangalore to Kerala on a 10 day trip in December. We hope to cover a beach, a houseboat, and a hill station off the beaten path. Please suggest an itinerary!

And also, is this even doable?

Why not, this is surely doable ..! come via mysore and make a stopover at vythiri, vayanad, which is one of the favourite spot for bangaloreans (but very beautiful too); come down to kochi and enjoy its beauty before proceeding to alapuzha/kumarakom for your houseboat experience. Hill stations could be one from these - munnar/ponmudi; while the beach experience could be either at varkala/kovalam/poovar (poovar highly recommended as it is still pristine). browse thru the journals and blogs on iM and you could plan your programme in detail.

With 10 days i would suggest you start from Northern tip..The Malabar coast. There is shorter route to kerala from Banglore you end up in Kannur, Mysore - Hunsur - Gonikoppal(Coorg)- Makutta(state border)- Iritty - Kannur like 300+- 50 KMs and then either you head up North for Kasaragod or start from Kannur itself,or may be you can find a route to Kasaragod directly from coorg.I never did that.
Kasaragod-Bekal Fort(the biggest fort in Kerala)..the one in Bombay movie, with end of rainy season you ought to get great view/waves.
Kannur/Thalassery.-Forts and beaches,Theyyam,..longest drive in beach in India,Dharmadam Island,Snake Park
Calicut..Beaches,market and then you can ride to wayanad in few hours
and then head south. There are lots of post out here on IM to help you out.
