Rail Museum Mysore
The Rail Museum in Mysore is a fascinating place to spend a few hours. Especially for people who find Trains exciting. Located near the Mysore railway station the museum has a fee of Rs 10 for adults and 5 for kids. There is a good collection of locomotives and carriages used in last 100 years. Some interesting exhibits are the Maharabi Saloon with its dining, sleeping rooms, kitchen as well as wash rooms. There is a 1925 Austin rail car which was converted to run on rails! A toy train provides a good overview of the Museum.
There is a lot of archaic equipment on display which was used by Mysore Railways. Morse code, telephones, pendulum clocks, fish plates as well as station furniture is on display!
It is a good idea to visit this museum next time you are in mysore.

Much agreed, delightful to visit and only Rs 10 .. even for white fella.
Bargains galore in Mysore .. include the zoo.
I liked it, too.
There are not many people going there - so, it's a rather quite and uncrowded place.
And it is very easy to reach.
