Hi,

If someone could also help me out with mysore & coorg trip, it would be great. I have nearly decided on the accomodation options in coorg, have checked out these two homestays in coorg,

http://www.homestaykodagu.com/home_s...%20cottage.htm
http://ashrayaincoorg.com/photo_gallery.htm

checked some websites for reviews about these homestays & found them good. If anyone else have stayed at any of these homestays earlier, then do let me know about your experience. Also, I have kind of created an itenary for my coorg trip.

Feb 1st, we travel to coorg, as it takes atleast 7 to 8 hours from my place we would be reaching coorg only in the evening (how early we reach depends on how early we start!). Our schedule for the whole mysore & coorg trip is 5 nights 6 days, 3 nights in coorg & 2 nights in mysore.

By the time we reach coorg on feb 1st, it would have already become dark so no options of going anywhere. I would also like to know if it is safe driving up to coorg at night? Are the roads good enough & safe enough for a night journey?
Our route to coorg would be via mysore, so I also had a thought of visiting srirangapatna before heading to coorg. Could someone tell me the distance of srirangapatna & coorg, also would an hour or 2 be enough to look around that place?

My day at coorg would actually start from 2nd feb. Plan to stay at this raksh cottage which is at siddapur. So on 2nd, I can visit dubare elephant camp, the monastry & nisargdhama & head towards madikeri after lunch. There I can visit the madikeri fort, abbey falls & omkareshwara temple before night & then I can head towards ashraya homestay which is located at cheyandane in south coorg.
The next day, that is the 3rd I can visit bhagamandala & talacauvery.

On 4th morning after breakfast, we would head towards mysore. Havnt really decided on the itenary for mysore but would cover a few places on 4th like brindavan gardens & kranji lake. Would halt at a resort in mysore & the 5th we would be going to chamundi hills & the mysore fort.

Any other must go places in mysore? Also could someone tell me if my coorg itenary is fine? I kind of feel that it is a little too hectic on 2nd feb but dont know how to sort it out. Do I get some help?

People who have visited these places please advise....

Drive directly to Coorg. Roads are not best. So strive to reach before dark being a first timer. Keep Srirangapatanam for your Mysore leg of the journey as it is only 18 km from Mysore. One or two hourse should be sufficient. Also nearby is the Ranganatittu bird sanctuary which you may want to visit. In Mysore, you may also want to visit the famous zoo, railway museum (closed on Mondays), and St. Philomina Church. Sunday evenings, the Mysore Palace is lit by 97,000 lights which is a spectacle to behold on its own. In Coorg, if time permits, you can visit Irupu falls. Have a pleasant time.

Hey,

Thanks so much for such a quick response.

I shall also add these places that u have mentioned in my itenary. But I would there only on the week days so would not be possible for me to see the mysore palace on sunday night :-(

Iam still wondering whether I can finish going around all the places that I want to within 2 days? As I will leave coorg only on 4th morning, drive to mysore is like 3 hours, then srirangapatna. Dont know how many places I can cover on the same day. After that I just have one day to finish all the rest. Could someone help me form an itenary?

I think your program on Feb 2nd is ambitious. May not be able to manage so much. Talacauvery should be fine for a single day. In fact, you may shift part of your Feb 2nd plan to Feb 3rd.

GVChoco,

In my view, your plans for Coorg and Mysore are OK. You should be able to cover them.

Just ensure that you start early.

Hope you have worked out your route to Coorg from Trichy...there may be multiple ways...Do get it whetted out with road travel experts.

You may check out bcmmotoring website for some guidance on the roadmaps in addition to IM.

cheers

Hey Manas, I would be doing a little bit of rescheduling here & there if things don't happen the way I have planned. That I can manage after going to coorg, so if my schedule of feb 2 does not work fine, then I can manage to make adjustments.

Hi Ribhu95,

Thanks for those suggestions. We will definitely start early so that we can cover as many places as possible. From what we heard, the route from trichy is via bangalore. Need to google that out a bit too. Shall also check the bcmtouring websites that you have mentioned.

Thanks people, for all your suggestions & help. Please do not hesitate to offer further advice too.

Hi Michelle,

Sorry for such a late response! I thought I could post my complete trip details from day 1 to day 6 but couldn't manage it. The trip was fabulous and I stayed in a guest house(Sunsadhan) recommended by a friend. It was a simple, clean room with the basics. As we were out through out the day, this was quite reasonable for us. They charged around Rs.900 per night.

I couldn't visit the elephant camp due to lack of time so cant give you any inputs about it. But the buddhist monastry is a must go according to me, I loved the place. I enjoyed visiting nisargdhama as well, especially the river side was fun. We spent quite a while playing in the water.

The temperature was quite ok, the mornings until 8 & the evenings after 7 were a little cold for me. The rest of the day was sunny & hot. Do take a sweater or jacket for necessity. Check the "My Coorg Escapade" in IM written by shyamm, it had a lot of information which was of great help for me. The other blogs about coorg are also very helpful.

Also while traveling towards madikeri from mysore, ensure that you do not travel through the kushal nagar route as the roads are terrible and it took as an hour & half to cover 30 km. There is other routes via hunsur and there is one route via kushal nagar too which is better than the one I traveled but don't know exactly how it goes. Do check with some one before you leave.

I hope my information is not too late and hope it is of any help.
