Makali Durga is a good idea for trekking in Bangalore. Located just 60 Kms towards Doddaballapur, the trek is not very difficult. There are 2 ways to reach the bee camp. One is via the Makalidurga station. A walk along the railway lines for 3 KMs past the station will take you to a signboard 54/400. A left here will take you to a temple from where the trail starts. The other way is to come via Ghati Sibramania temple by road. A walk through frields and the railway crossing will take you to the base camp.

We took 2 hours to reach the top. There was a fort which used to be with different kingdoms in the past form Vijayanagar to Maratha to Kempegowda.

There are arrows which show the path all the way to the top. The view from the top is magnificent. There is a lovely lake which can be seen from the top. There is an old Shiva temple at the summit. Although the idols are broken, the temple looks serene amidst the granite hills.

The terrain is full of shrubs and thorns. The boulders have water running past them at several points, making hem slippery. Hence it is advisable to wear full sleeves and trousers and a pair of shoes with good grip. Carry water and snacks as there are no shops on top.
