A friend and I have a full day in Jodhpur. We plan to visit the fort in the morning, and then would like to talk a walk around the blue city.

Does anyone have suggestions for what route/streets are the best from the Fort? We could take the main path down from the fort toward the clock tower, or I have seen that people have gone out the back where the gardens are into the Brahmpur area.

I am a photographer and would really like a scenic but relatively easy to navigate, and safe. I don't mind getting lost a bit, just so I can find my way out.

You can can roam down hill to the Clock Tower. Don't follow the main road but take the smaller streets. Sometimes it is a dead-end alley but as long you keep going down hill it will be no problem.

If you have spare time a visit to Mandore with the cenothaps of the former rulers is a nice trip. It is about 8 km out Jodhpur so take a rickshaw.

Thanks! Are any of the smaller streets marked at all or have names? We can certainly play it by ear, sounds fun to get a little lost

I don't think there are street names, and it they exist they will be in Hindi.
But the distance from the fort to the clock tower is not that big. By the main road it will be something like a quarter of an hour (downhill).

I second the roaming option. If you get lost, you can easily take a rickshaw to where you need to go or a familiar landmark like the clock.
