Would two days be enough to do sightseeing in Jodhpur ?

If one wants to understand the city and get a flavour for the city - one week ?

Monuments are great...but is the city worth experiencing as a long stay ? Anyone done this ? Your blog please...thanks.

if you want to see just the highlights, yes, 2 days is enough. the key is to use a new path each time you visit an attraction.that way, you can see most of the city while not really looking for it. we stumbled into a goat auction while taking a walk in the old city area on our way to some park somewhere.

flavour of the markets etc, another couple of days. every nook and cranny a tourist is likely to visit, another two days more. if you are keen to explore neighbourhoods, it is interesting to visit the areas under the fort (near the back entrance). pick a hotel in singhviyon ka mohalla or thereabouts, and you will be forced to see a part of the city that you might not normally visit (as there are no attractions there).

Personally, i found it curious that every house in those lanes had manual scavenging toilet rooms, and all of them are closed now, but you can see the rooms for what they were.

i am talking only about the city. the suburbs are a different matter.

This is my opinion, i could be wrong.

Well I can imagine what a pig toilet is... the pigs come and eat the poop right? Surely people don't scavenge through the poop? I can handle the gory stuff before breakfast, don't worry.

It's ok - wikipaedia has answered my own question.
