Bus from Bangalore to Jodhpur
This is probably the longest journey that you can do by road in the country. It is approximately 1900 kms and takes you about 35 hours. The VRL Volvo Bus journey starts off from Bangalore which is in the southern part of india and traverses through Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan to reach Jodhpur. The bus journey is pretty comfortable with convenient halts along the way with rest rooms that are well maintained.
Its nice to see the changing topography and as Anand who is from Mumbai explained to me - how the route brought alive a subtly changing dialect with a lot of common words between Kanada, Marati, Gujurati and Hindi... and might I add Russian to the mix.
Long road journeys can be quite tedious. If you are one who is prone to motion sickness like me but yet love the thrill of traveling by road, keep some ginger handy to nibble on. it works like a charm.
