I'm going to be doing some travelling through India in April/May and really would love to go to an IPL cricket game. I'm going to try and see if I can get tickets through a sports travel agent (in NZ).... Not sure if its possible but thought I would give it a try. I love sport and its definitely on the bucket list to go to a cricket game in India!

The game that would best fit into my schedule is in Ranchi at JSCA International Cricket Stadium as I finish an 'intrepid' tour in Kolkata on the 11th May and there is a game there on the 12th May. (Would be perfect if the game was in Kolkata at Eden Gardens but oh well) My questions are: Is it a relatively safe place for a solo female traveler? (hopefully might make some friends along the way that might want to come but if not...) Or would it be better to try and go to a game in one of the major cities (eg Delhi or Chennai)?
Or is it even safe at all to go to an IPL game at all? as I've read a few things that say to avoid going out at night and avoid crowds - this would seem to fit into both those categories...

Thanks for any help!!!
