Hello everyone

Please help me out. Me & my husband were trying to take a ride on Double Decker exp since 2 years. But we couldn't manage it. After 2 years we can make a plan in this October. We're going to Deoghar by Akal Takth on 5th October. It will reach within 12.30 (approx). And we wish to return back to Kolkata by the "Double Decker Exp" from Dhanbad on 7th October.

Now please suggest me
1) If we reach Deoghar at that time (mentioned here), then which places we can take for sightseeing on that day after lunch?
2) We wish to visit Rajgir on 6th October, then is it possible to book a cab or auto for that?
3) On the third day (7th October) we've the morning free. So is this can be used for any other sightseeing?
4) We're going to book "Era Holiday Home". Any review for this?
5) I've not so much knowledge about this sector. Please suggest an itinerary

We're total 4 people in our group (my husband, mom-in-law, my daughter-5years old & me).

Please reply. Have to book the hotel.

You will reach Jasidih shortly after noon on the 5th. You want to "do" Rajgir on the 6th and catch the Double Decker at Dhanbad on the 7th at 18:30. You will end up travelling all the time and won't get a chance to do any "sight-seeing".

It would take you at least half a day getting there and half a day getting back*. That will leave you just about enough time to take a photograph to prove you were there. I think Rajgir deserves more than that.

*Deoghar-Jamui-Sikandra-Sheikhpura-Barbigha-Bihar Sharif-Rajgir and back (or is there now a super highway with a surface as smooth as Hema Malini's cheeks - that's what Laloo promised.**)

**He even denied it: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/i...ow/2503470.cms
So it must be true.

Go to Simultala - it's much closer.

Then please suggest me an itinerary for 5,6 & 7th. We've to leave for Kolkata on 5th & catch the Double Decker Exp on 7th.

Is Ranchi sightseeing possible from Deoghar? I'm totally confused about this trip. Please give me suggestion as early as possible.

Take the double-decker to Dhanbad, spend two days there, take the double-decker back. You'll get to know a real industrial and mining town. There is a lot to see in and around Dhanbad. You could spend a few hours at Wasseypur. The Dhanbad School of Mines is located at Wasseypur too. It has a decent museum. You could make a trip to Maithon. There's a thread on it somewhere on Indiamike. I'll link it as soon as I have found it. Dhanbad isn't a "touristy" place so you won't be pestered by touts.

Maithon links: http://www.indiamike.com/india/west-...7/#post1764413

Other threads will appear at the bottom of the page.

Parasnath isn't that far away from Dhanbad either.

If you are reaching Deoghar around midday on 5th, you can spend the afternoon at the trikut pahar or nandan kanan (Enjoying the park the climb and the sunset)Visit the temple for the experience of evening arati and see the surrounding bazaar.
Next morning after puja at Baidyanath dham, spend some time for local sightseeing like
tapovan (A picnic spot with a lot of caves),
Naulakha Mandir (a nice temple of radha krishna),
satsang ashram (Of thakur Sri anukul chandra),
You can also make a day trip to either simultala(see haldi jharna and lattu pahar, taste chhenar murki),or giridih (Usri falls).

The next morning you can travel to Dhanbad via Pareshnath and topchachi lake on the way.

I second that. They can be quite intimidating. My late grandfather (bless his soul) had once been hit really hard on head with a water filled "lota" by few pandas from deoghar after he claimed his sitting right over his reserved seat on a train from jasidih to Kolkata which was summarily encroached by these pandas.

Thanks both of you for your suggestions. Both of the itineraries are good. Now just need to discuss with other family members.

One more itinerary is required before discussion. If we want to go to Rajgir not Deoghar then what will be the tour plan? But remember we don't want to miss the ride on the Double Decker train.
