I found this very interesting article on McCluskieganj, you might find it helpful:

And to reach these two places you can take Shaktipunj Exp. from Howrah Jn. which runs daily.

Hi,

I had visited McCluskiegunj in Feb,2009.The best place to stay is Ushanjali GuestHouse, owned by Mr.B.N.Ganguly of Ranchi.

Excellent place to unwind. Call up Mr.Ganguly at 09334700427 & 0651-2560027 to book the room. You can take Shaktipunj from Howrah and get down at McCluskiegunj. Alternate way is to go to Ranchi and then drive down.

Never been to Betla. Incidently am leaving for two day Betla trip tonight.

Hope this was helpful

Hi ghosh pp

I am interested to visit Betla forest / Netarhat. It seems that you have covered the region recently. Can you please provide some details including contact nos, financial aspects, safety / security aspects and of course your recommendations. Would love to go through details of your trip if you care to record the same.
Thanks-----------------------------------

An update on the paradise named McCluskiegunj : the guesthouse has been closed down by the local administration due to law and order problem - as per the owner.
