Jammu - Is it safe to travel?

Hi,

Iam scheduled to visit Vaishno devi from Aug 14-17. I've a train booking till Jammu and from there in bus to Katra. In the wake of current political scenario, Is it safe to travel in that region? I read a Blogpost today and that really got me scared .

Please advice .
Cheers,

And looking on TV today, I'd concur with what Shashank says.

And also whereisvj, there are a few other threads running on much the same theme, coming from different angles, and they are worth checking out - all in the Jammu and Kashmir Forum. Most are at the bottom of this page if you scroll right down.

is it safe?

Hi,
I am planning to visit Vaishno Devi shrine too on Aug. 18th. I had already booked flights for 5 people and also booked helicopter rides for 5 people. We will be staying in Katra. Is it safe in Katra ? I heard there is bandh till Aug. 14th. Will it change after the bandh is over?

Things are fluid, but at the moment travelling there is not advisable.
