Hi everyone.

Im planning to go to Kashmir and Ladakh for 9 days from 26 august until 3 september 2011 with 2 friends.
we are malaysian students who currently studying in bangalore, india.
I've already done google all the places , transportation, and hotels. our itinerary also has been finalised. but there are certain thing that still unsatisfied and doubtful. i hope you can help me answering my questions.

1. Is it true that non-indian tourists (foreigners) are forbidden from continuing to 2nd phase of Gondola at Gulmarg?

2. We heard about difficulty in getting permit to go to diskit (nubra valley) from leh . is it true? and why? does it have certain period of time to visit there?

3. Is there any curfew during that period (end of august) because of nearing eid fitr?

4. And im very happy if you can list attraction place along Srinagar-Kargil-Lamayuru-leh road. i have a little place in mind but im afraid i miss the best part.

Thanks.
Im very eager and enthusiastic to go to kashmir for next 2 weeks. i hope you can help me in this trip..

1. No first hand experience , but fairly sure Ive seen trip reports mentioning going all the way up. Cant see how this should be a sensitive area either - the army winter training centre seems like a weak reason.

2. No. Ive been there as late as in mid-November , not a hint of problems. The only time Ive heard of permits halted was during elections.

3. Curfews in Kashmir are even harder to predict than the weather , never heard of them linked to eid ul fitr. A young man was killed a few days ago in police custody , this is far more likely to bring unrest in the coming days/weeks.

Thanks Vistet for the answer. Really appreciate it. Btw, is it peak season during eidul fitr ( end of august until early september) ? And is there any place closed or changes during ramazan ( ramadhan ) month ?
