Hello Freinds,

Though already read few threads/post on IM, I need your expert advise for Jaipur Hotel for 2-nights:

Requirements:
Near to City center & Eateries
Traditional/heritage/Rajasthani Ambeince
Family Friendly

1. Arya Niwas
Good Recommendation on IM.
Seems good location in city center.
Propoerty looks good in pics, but not sure if it will fulfill the traditional heritage feel or not?

2. Umaid Mahal/Umaid Bhawan
Great Pics on travel sites but not sure if its really worth with family for first visit.
Is Location little far from center? Don`t want deserted place with family.

Are there any Negetives about Umaid Property as I dont want to go just by its pics?. Its seems NOT very popular even though looks beautiful. Didn`t understand why?
Umaid is little costly than Arya but its ok if it will make a memorable experience (max budget 2500-4000INR)

Any other property recommendation, with mix of both Traditional Ambience+Central Location.

Kindly suggest........ Thank You

Hi,

We stayed at Umaid Mahal back in 2009.

We found it very acceptable. I wanted a slightly nicer hotel as I was with my girlfriend at the time, and this worked well for us, an older couple.

Although it is a "heritage" building, the rooms and decor were all newly painted, albeit in traditional style. Some might find it a little "garish", but we were happy.

It still has very positive reviews on trip advisor.

Ed.

For that budget you'd only get heritage look alikes or typically annexe rooms in a heritage property. I.e. the hotel would have been built to look like an old building in the traditional Jaipur architecture but it won't be a 100 year+ old building or your room would not be a part of the original building. Also what makes a heritage hotel worth staying in is the staff - old retainers who stay on due to their ties with the owner, despite limited pay. Jaipur is an expensive city in general. The most reasonable options would be around RS 5000 for a true heritage hotel. Try Alsisar haveli - check reviews on Google.
