Hy,
I am residing in Norway right now and I like to buy a flight ticket for my wife from India to Norway with my VISA-Credit-Card. I will be not on the flight.

Technically its not problem, but I have heard there could be problems in India on the airport, when she shows the ticket, but she is not the Credit-Cardholder and I am not with her.

Does anyone have experience with such things?

I dont like to send money by Western Union to let her buy a more expensive ticket in the same plane...

I have heard it should work out if she shows a Xerox-Copy of my credit card... who the heck would copy his credit card???

I bet its working like this... this is India... I never ever...hahahaha

o.k. I would be happy for any good Idea!

The rule says:
"If the holder of the card is not the passenger, then the passenger should possess:
a) A Photocopy of both sides of the card, which will have to be self attested by the card holder authorising the use of the card for the purchase of the ticket. For security reasons, please strike out the Card Verification Value (CVV) code on the copy of your card.
b) This Photocopy should also contain the name of the passenger, the date of journey and the sector on which the journey is made.
The above document MUST be produced at the time of check-in. If the passenger fails to comply with these conditions, the carrier reserves the right to deny the passenger(s) from boarding."
Hope, it would make your concerns clear! Further, it is misnomer that one cn play with rules in India.
Please do not take rules lightly in India

This is totally dependent on the Airline's T&C. Lots of people buy ticket for their parents, kids, spouses, floozies, dufuses all the time. It maybe a rule for domestic routes, but I very much doubt many non-indian carriers adhere to it.

Back to the future

I am surprised to find my own thread again here with the same question, but an answer!
Great thing!

To the last post:
I just bought a ticket for family in India with a non indian Credit card and the AirCarrier told its advisable to

" However, we kindly advise you to still bring an authorization letter or any proof of the credit card in case this will be asked at the airport."

So I assume its not an issue of the carrier, as here a well known from the Netherlands.

Thanks,

Shaktimaan

Yes, it is not at all an issue till the passenger carries an authorization/declaration letter from the card holder.

Though no one questions, but just as a safe side...
