Has anyone used Gulf air to get to India from the UK? I am thinking of booking with them as they are so cheap but the reviews are not good.
Any stories of you GF experiences would be welcome.

Thanks

Jennie

HI Jennie

We are a family of 5 and we have booked gulf air from london heathrow to delhi via bahrain in october/november this year. Previous good experiences from other family members prompted us to try gulf air for the first time. Check our airlinequality.com for reviews from other flyers. Let me know if you will be flying before or after october/november so we can compare the actual experience. Hope this helps.

In my opinion gulf air service has gone worse for the last few years, and this is specially for families.
Srilankan air line is providing friendly service and fares are compareable.

I just returned from a trip on which I flew with SriLankan Airlines and cannot recommend them highly enough. The legroom was impressive, the onboard service flawless and the fare ridiculously low. Furthermore, if your journey involves a stopover in Colombo of more than 8 hours SriLankan will arrange hotel accommodation and meals at no additional cost (even if it's a daytime stopover)! If you can find a good deal with SriLankan I'd take it.

I have flown Gulf Air a couple of times from Amsterdam-London-Bahrain-Chennai. I always booked them for the low fares, and for the money you pay I got decent service.

The times I flew, the stewardesses were not overly friendly, but helpful enough. Bahrein airport was also good enough to wait for a couple of hours. So if you're on a budget, I would recommend Gulf Air!

Check out the additonal charges added from July 1st. They're not so cheap from Mumbai to London. I also recommend SriLankan coming from here. I think they are more expensive from London. Gulf are about 43000/- from Mumbai return now. No good for me as another 6000/- from Dabolim. Just paid nearly 50000/- from Dabolim return with SL.

I've flown with Qatar, Etihad, Gulf, and Turkish Airlines to the Indian Subcontinent, and that's the order in which I rank them. Note that there is something of a...well, of a gulf...between Gulf and Turkish. Gulf are light years better.
Mosquitos suck.

I flew with Gulf air about 4 years ago and never used them since . The plane was shabby inside and the staff were awful.

I had booked up with Gulf air from Mumbai to London a couple of weeks ago.So i booked my Goa - Mumbai flights, then then Gulf air decided to alter their times,so my other Goa flights were useless. So i cancelled the Gulf flight and booked with B.A.So my experience says stay away from them.

Gulf Air isn't as good as they used to be. They are facing huge competition from Emirates, Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways. But I would say they offer some fantastic prices and connections also seem to be reasonable. They also have a modern fleet!
