Himalayan Grandala seems to have found the prey.
Shot at Changbang Base Camp meadow (4500m+) in June 2011.

I wonder if it might be a female Blue Fronted Redstart? There are some similarities, but there are just as many differences.

I believe that's the Grey crowned Prinia. I could be wrong though. I have a similar snap from Bhutan, taken at lamperli.

Java Sparrow is legal as a pet in India

Hello Everyone,

Can I keep "Java Sparrow" breed bird at my home as a pet. I mean to ask, is it legal to keep this bird at a personal residence, or am I violating wildlife laws?

I don't know much about birds, but when I was visiting my friend, who happens to be an expert on such matters and is on the state government board - he mentioned that the laws against keeping exotic birds are quite stringent. He said that if the height where the bird usually nests or rests is, say 50 feet, you cannot keep the bird in your 2nd floor house, it has to be placed at 50 feet only, that is where it would normally stay. And if the environment folks get to know of a violation and slap a case based on it, it can be pretty troublesome.

Not trying to scare you, just saying know the facts and then go ahead with it.

As Java Finch is not an Indian bird you can keep it as a pet. But having a pet is a big responsibility and you have to house it properly and look after it's welfare. Have a word with your local vet to see if the specie is suitable for your area.
