we used to get regular visits from a single juvenile to bathe in our fishpond (too big or posh for the birdbath with the other birds!), but since the pond got overgrown with ferns and other plants the visits have stopped.

Still in early learning - on Win 10 I was unable to get the Gimp to play nicely with Ufraw - tried a few suggestions from Google then found this one that worked:

from: http://hex.ro/wp/blog/gimp-2-8-with-ufraw-0-19-2-2-on-windows/ with many thanks!

Getting GIMP 2.8 to play with ufraw 0.19.2-2 on Windows 7 64bit.
(This works perfectly with Win 10 ufraw-0.19.2-2 and Gimp 2.8.18)

1. Install GIMP / ufraw in their respective folders.
from here you need full Administrator privileges ...
2. Copy the c:\Program Files (x86)\UFRaw\bin\ufraw-gimp.exe file to the GIMP plugins folder (in my case that was: c:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins\)
3. To resolve bkzip2.dll conflict: Make a backup of bzip2.dll of GIMP by renaming c:\Program Files\GIMP 2\32\bin\bzip2.dll to c:\Program Files\GIMP 2\32\bin\bzip2.dll.orig
4. Copy the bzip2.dll of ufraw to GIMP. In my case it meant copying c:\Program Files (x86)\UFRaw\bin\bzip2.dll to c:\Program Files\GIMP 2\32\bin\
5. To resolve PATH problems: Add ufraw\bin folder to the end of PATH variable in the c:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\environ\default .env file:

1 # Example entry in files like these
2 # FOOPATH=/path/to/foo/stuff
3
4 PATH=${gimp_installation_dir}\ bin;${gimp_installation_dir}\3 2\bin;c:\Program Files (x86)\UFRaw\bin
5 PYTHONPATH=${gimp_installation _dir}\32\lib\gimp\2.0\python
so if you've got Win 10.....

Heart-spotted Woodpecker , the body is heart shaped , so are the patterns, don't miss the small black ones as well. One from my recent Thattekad trip , came down for a few seconds from the high canopy that it so loves.

not sure about this - the canvas properties are greyed out when there is no image open, but see:

Edit>Preferences>Default Image

Hi All!!

I was in Bangalore last month, for a few days. Drove to Nandi hills for a short birding session. Nandi hills is a very little but beautiful hill-station (quite popular in and around Bangalore). Saw a lot of bird activity and was glad to click some pictures. Sharing a few. Some pics are a bit blur, pls don't mind. The pics were clicked very early in the morning and inside very thick vegetation.

A sneak peak at the holy water tank on the hill.
