They must, although I'm not an expert on the subject. Ever seen rocks covered with a red plant? Also amaranth (there are dozens of varieties).

Seems to be Himalayan fleeceflower (Persicaria affinis), it grows all over Himalayas approximately between 3000 to 5000 mts altitude.
If you find my posts confrontationist, please bear, I am an old frustrated guy who has nothing better to do than sit on rocking chair and curse the world whole day

Thanks jituyadav! I think you are right. On close up, it looks like this (photo 1) and from a distance like this (photo 2). Would you know if the blue flower is the Himalayan Monkshood?

If it looks like the first photo, it is definitely Himalayan fleeceflower. Also, just to remove any confusion about Amaranth, you can rule that out as amaranth does not grow above 3000 mts.

You may be right about the blue flower, it surely looks like Monkshood. A trivia about monkshood, it is probably the most poisonous plant, at least in hills. The poison derived from its roots has a long history of being used on arrows during fights, maybe because apart from being poisonous, it is also anticoagulant. This plant also has a special place in Ayurveda and used in preparing many critical drugs. It is important that one must avoid touching its leaves with bare hands.

Hi All!!
Posting some pics of a flower endemic to western ghats (more towards northern western ghats, I am told). The naturalist mentioned that it was found mostly in Pune district and are in the process of naming it! Though he mentioned some scientific name, I couldn't get it. If anybody has any idea, it would be great to know.

The pics are from Talegaon (Bhimashankar forest area).

These yellow flowers/plant grow in patches and the flowers are really tiny.

I hope it is OK to start it here, the other place I could think of was photography but with the encouraging response I got for birds, I think I will try my luck here.

So which flower is this?
I am not sure but I think its Jasmin

Welcome to Indiamike! Don't worry: Snotty is right, but even established members sometimes make the mistake of answering old questions.

Did that flower ever get identified? I's doubt that it could be Jasmine, simply because the picture was posted by an Indian woman!
