I would like to visit the Sundarbans for two to three days in February 2009. Could anyone who has been there recently recommend a reliable tour operator to me.
Thank you!

I've booked a Sunderbans trip with these guys http://traveleastindia.com/ They're really nice and very responsive so booking has been quite easy. I'm scheduled to travel to the Sunderbans on Dec 16 so I can't comment on the trip but will report back when I return.

The Most Reliable tour opertors are .

Sunderban Tiger View Point.
www.ecotourism.co.in

Both does conducted tour from Kolkata with their
own logistics.

Thumbs up Hi!

the TIGER CAMP OR HELP TOURISM is the better option. KHORLO / SURANJANA/www.sunderbancruises.com are also there....to reach them U can see the website....if U face any problem....send me a PM with specific problem.
Actually, the number & budget are important in sunderban....in proper sunderban, without a motorized boat you can not move even an inch.....the govt. tourism will keep there guests in a very shabby guest house....so i'll not guide U 2 go with the Govt. tourism....U can try others.
To tell U fankly....there r couple of options to visit Sunderban...U can visit the delta by spending INR 700/- to INR 25,000/-....from this wide range, U can understand your specific likings r very much important also!!

rongon,

Your answer is for me an enigma. Next April i want to spend four or five days at the Sundarbans but I'm not very much fond of Tour Operators: I'll be on the range of 700 or may be at the dark side of my pocket on the range of 25,000 ?????????????

If the answer is the second one I think I'll forget the Sundarbans in India and will head to Bangladesh.

Lightbulb Jorge!!

Like tiger of Sunderban in India, the tour cost is really an "enigma". If U don't know, what you want and what kind of experience you want to have...then it is for sure...You can land up in a darker side.
If you r wondering about the heighest cost....just have a look at www.sunderbancruises.com....U' ll find the revised rate is more than that, what I have mentioned. But as they r very known to me, I can assure about their quality.
That is why I have asked for the specific requirement.
But please keep in mind....that like other Tiger Reserve Forests in India [viz. Ranthambhore, Kanha, Corbette] no one can give U the gurantee to showcasing the TIGER in Sunderban...it is a mere LUCK of the visitor!!

If U see my profile...U'll find my picture over there...and the most interesting story is when the picture was taken, juster after couple of minutes on the same day, I and my only boat mate has seen a TIGER & TIGRESS together at my 7th visit in sunderban after 6 visit has went in vain within a span of 9/10 months. After that I've visited another 5 times....I've not seen a pugmark even.

BTW Jorge!!

Please let me know, when ever U want to visit Sunderban...but please come to see the Indian part of Sunderban.
Though I've not visited the Bangladesh part but I've read & seen docufeature in NAT-GEO that they have Grass land more than the Delta Area in sunderban!
