Hi,

I am planning to visit Valley of Flower on 19-22 July, 2015.

Please suggest if this is the right time to visit this place? Also suggest if 4 days is enough to visit VoF. Also, suggest nearby places that we can cover in these 4 days. We wish to travel by flight. Can someone suggest a good itinerary.

Thanks in Advance.

Regards,
Kapil

weather conditions

We are reaching govindghat on 28th july. Any one has any idea about the weather conditions there. News papers run many articles about heavy rains and bad weather conditions in chardham yatra and in amarnath yatra too. How to get actual report on the conditions there?
If anyone have the information please reply.
Thanx in advance

Yes, this is the best time (July/Aug) to visit VOF...But generally, I keep 1 or 2 days buffer for bad weather ...4 days for VOF depends on your mode of transport & weather...
Assuming your journey starts from Dehradun Airport, Most common itinerary:
Day 1: Airport to Govindghat (around 9- 10 hrs journey , approx. 290km)
Day 2: Govindghat to Ghangria ( 14km trek, will take around 7-8hrs)
Day 3: Ghangria to VOF & back to Ghangria
Day 4: Ghangria to Govindghat
Day 5: Govindghat to Airport

To complete in 4 days, Option 1 - Take helicopter from Govindghat/Joshimath to Ghangria, however Heli service is highly dependent upon weather condition....
Option 2- Check for direct Heli service from Dehradun

Others places to see- Hemkund sahib, Badrinath.,My suggestion would be to make this 5N/6D trip ( from Dehradun) + 1 day buffer for weather & include Hemkund sahib in Day 4 ( Ghangria to Hemkund sahib back to Ghandria)

Sorry for late posting.
I visited both vof and hemkund saheb, both are amazing places. As suggested before one must have atleast 6 days from govindghat to govindghat.you can never be sure of weather in mountains. During my trip at the beginning of August there were good flowering but according to other travelers it was less. The view from valley is excellent and you will feel like staying there forever.Fortunately I had superb weather conditions though the route from ghangaria to vof is quite difficult if you are nature lover you won't mind it.The very next day when I visited Hemkunt saheb it was heavy fog and no visibility. With light rains it was slippery and a stip climb. There wwas lot of flowering on the route too.If one is intetested in birds there are a planty. At gurudwara you get a good cup of tea and steaming khichdi which feels like heavan after the journey.
Ponies are avalable from govindghat and from ghangaria too..They have fixed rates displayed on the boards .No decent food is available other then GNVL restaurent at ganghria.
