Marapatti = Common Palm Civet = Paradoxurus hermaphroditus = Toddy cat

See this link: http://www.lioncrusher.com/animal.asp?animal=109

OK so it isn't that.

Giant grizzled squirrel = Ratufa macroura is only afound at approx ten locations in the Western Ghats. Bestseen at Chinnar WLS. It's a big, tree dwelling squirrel with a 30-40cm tail

Try this link for pictures: http://www.arkive.org/species/GES/ma...tufa_macroura/

So, it isn't that either as the lady in the picture has short tail like a marmot.

Good mystery animal this. It's definitely a rodent (you can just tell!), almost certainly a burrowing one (holes and spoil behind), it isn't a gopher 'cos the teeth are hidden by its lips, it's not a tree squirrel because of its tail. It does look a lot like a marmot of some sort. AND IT SHOULDN'T BE WHERE IT IS!!

Terry, can you please reduce the size of the original picture. It is way to large to hotlink to it and this is why the forum leaders edited it in the first thread. Please reduce the size and attach it as an image or reduce the size and just link to it.

Those on lower speed connections will never be able to see the photo because of the size of it (214693 bytes is fairly large)

Thanks in advance.

Awww... she's shrunk

But I see Mike's point. Glad I saved a copy of her while she was still full size
