Bus safari.. has it started already? and no booking in advance required??? wont the diesel noise of bus engine spook away all animals, unless all animals have gotten used to humans and noise from vehicles. I am really excited with this option though as I am bit reluctant to spend 5000 rs safari hence it will be a good to have some cost affective alternative, which almost guarantees a seat.

Planning for Tadoba

Hi Nitin,

I read your posts earlier. Very informative. I am from Hyderabad and planning for Tadoba in month of January. I see the safari booking is available for few dates. while booking it is asking for hired/own vehicle. Can you please guide me in this. Can we take our vehicle in to the park or we have to hire the vehicle at the park. If yes where to hire the car/jeep?

And, I see many gates while booking, can you also help which gate is the best for tiger sighting.

Thanks in advance,
Mani

1) Please use "hired" vehicle
2) Safari is done in a forest department approved Gypsy (or in recently started 20 seater Canter operated by forest department)

HI Mani,

Please choose Hired Vehicle. It is Gypsy. Own vehicle is your vehicle which you want to take inside. in this case you have to provide PUC car number and no horn is allowed inside jungle
YOu can take your Vehicle inside the park but taking a Guide with you is compulsory. Plus you have to pay Vehicle charges,.
But I would suggest take Gypsy. Cost is almost same but view from Gypsy is 10 time better than closed cars.
You can hire a Gypsy from anyone or you can call Subhash Guide. he has two good Gypsies at Moharli gate.. 08055257451
Gypsy rates are fixed everywhere

Gate should be near to the Hotel you get. Any point of the jungle is accessible from all the gates.
If you ask me then I would suggest Moharli gate. It is crowded sometimes but from Moharli gate you reach telia lake in just 5 minutes. (more sighting chances.)

Kolara is also good gate.
Near Moharli try to stay at MTDC. Thats cheaper better faster option. decent stay. try to book NON AC rooms. January must be very cold.

Do let me know if any difficulty.

regards

Possibilities are there. All depend on luck. Jungle floor get wait and with full of potholes ... Tigers come and sit, sleep on the road or near the road. All the non tar roads, lanes are closed as it becomes muddy. Only main tar road is open until pandharpauni aria.
only 5 to 6 Gypsies are allowed per day. But if you see Tigers then they will be in the best color and with amazing green background (for photography)
All the best!

I am with Nitunule. A wildlife park is no place to take a small child. What interest is it to a 14mth old child? Only an annoyance to other travellers who have paid good money for their experience. Take your child to a zoo if you want it to see animals. It will soon be bored and you can take it home.

Hi Nitin, really nice blog and very informative.

Well, we are 6 and planning for Tadoba in June'17. We booked online slot by selecting hired vehicle for Kolara gate and they charged 1285/-. I believe this is entry fee. Can you please tell me how much they charge for Jeep and any near by low fare resorts at Kolara.

Thanks in advance,
Vikram

Hi Vikram,

I have never visited Kolara. I would suggest if you can explore FDCM Kolara Tents (if all males with you. It has Indian Toilets)
Rest will do enquiry and update here.
May be other members can give some inputs. But will give some contact here. You can talk to them as get ore info.
I always stay near Moharli gate.

Regards

Thanks for the reply. Would you recommend Kolara gate.? As online booking has many gates (Moharli is full) so we booked Kolara morning slot.

Hi.. always book one gate for all safaris . All gates are far away from each other. Never book two different gates. Gypsies have entry permit from specific gates only.
You have to stay near the gate only so book hotel according to that. Book any gate you wil have to roam same jungle. Any point is accessible from any gate. Kolara gate is also good. In fact you can get 15 minutes extra at Pandharpawni if you are staying at Kolara. But you have to leave Pandharpawni early if you staying near Moharli.
