It's near Jorhat if I am not mistaking the place you mentioned "Hoolock Gibbon Sanctuary". Jorhat is almost 100km from Kaziranga towards Dibrugarh (Other side from where Suman is approaching) and from Jorhat you have to take another road towards Mariani town to reach there. Nice place no doubt but probably would be out of the proposed route of Suman.

Agree , but IMO any other place would not offer the exclusivity and uniqueness of HGS, Suman anyways has an extra day at hand. And since Suman is going to be in those parts it would be a good opportunity.

Thanks kshil and Destination Anywhere! I am not sure whether we shall be able to go to HGS. We prefer some place in between. Also I want to spend more time in nameri instead of just one day. We shall still try to extend our booking for another night in Manas, while we are there. If not possible, then we shall decide. Currently keeping the option open!

Ok i am going to Manas with only 1 more person in my group. How much would gypsy cost? To me,it sounds uneconomical to first spend on car from Barpeta to Bansbari and then on jeep from Bansbari to Mothanguri that costs 3000/day including night safari. Also are ele safaris regular. And finally, how is wildlife sighting in winter?

Well our manas trip became so bad, that I got depressed and login-in in indiamike after a very long time. Most of our room booking got cancelled in mathanguri FRH due to VIP movement. We stayed there for one night, and got so disturbed due to VIP movement, their police guards and commandos for 24 hours, that next day we deliberately moved out of manas forest. Anyway what i found is
- During long vacation time, go to mathanguri only if you have link with VIPs
- If any VIP comes, don't expect any service even if they charge you full money, unless you are VIP too. They may not serve you food before canteen guys finished cooking for VIPs. If you can enjoy, you will be amazed to see the different hierarchies within VIPs, how due to a arrival of more important VIP, FRH people is not sufficiently entertaining less important VIP etc. etc. And due to all the things, you shall forget that you are in a forest!!!

- Manas forest is excellent, however Mathanguri FRH is quite over-hyped place. It is no doubt in nice location, but you will not get the feeling of forest, as the surrounding area of the FRH is devoid of dense trees. It is on a top of small hillock. So you will feel as if you are on a top of hill, but I have seen similar or much more beautiful rest house in Uttaranchal or Himachal.

- On the other hand Manas forest is amazing. Next time I shall prefer staying in Bansbari lodge or any tourist lodge run by NGOs.

- Even a luxury resort management will feel ashamed if they see the price and quantity of food provided in Mathanguri FRH.

- In kaziranga, I advise not to stay in dhansiri eco camp in bokakhat, particularly if you travelling with family/kid. their location is good, but highly over priced, with poor facilities, particularly water. Also the location is quite far from main kaziranga. animal sighting is very poor near the range of dhansiri eco camp.

Overall I found that Manas forest is much more amazing than Kaziranga. I surely want to go back to visit Manas again, but will never (try to) stay in Mathanguri FRH again.
- thanks,
smnray

I forgot the exact rate. I think they were charging around Rs1000/- or Rs1200/- per room per day. Food cost extra. And we found that their food charge quite high. You can call the number (available in this thread) to get the exact rate.
