I would surely carry mosquito repellent cream as in this trip I would cover Kaziranga and Namdapha as well along with Manas. I won't be trying at all and add frustration with a zoom lens and 2X TC unless I can get a chance to shoot in good light condition . I hope someday I would be able to afford 500mm prime lens.

Your feedback on time taken is invaluable. Though my flight time is 7.10am in Guwahati but being December, one foggy morning could make a complete mess of everything. I am planning to take a car from Guwahati and staright proceed to Mathanguri. During my visit I expect sun set would be even earlier around 4.30.

Have you prearranged the Qualis or arranged it after reaching Guwahati? Is it from Airport or city? Is it possible to share any contact number of the driver? I want to miimize the time taken to arrange all these and really worried about fog in December and they subsequent delay.

hi, we had plans to taking the Brahmaputra mail to Barpeta , but due to wether conditions we were unable to land in time and we missed the train, however we were able to get a cab from the Airport but there are a few contacts available with me , if you can drop me a separate mail at anu_marwah@hotmail.com i can share the same, since this forum doesn't allow contacts of travel professionals etc to be shared.

@Destination Anywhere and smnray

Just spoken to Babul Brahma, the DFO for reconfirming my reservation. I specifically asked for Bodo issues and he categorically mentioned, Manas is not having any issue absolutely and visitors are regularly visting the place, Assuring word indeed.

He mentioned canteen is now in place and carrying ration from Barapeta Road is not required anymore, I think I would recheck this info again just before starting my trip.

I spoken to Babul Brahma, Range Officer there, a nice gentleman I would say, call him in his cell number +919435124949

Not sure how early booking starts but when I enquire in Sep begin, I had difficulties in getting my desired dates in December. Many tour operators book it for entire holiday period, like Kaziranga, though Manas is much less commercialized than Kaziranga as I understood when I spoken to people there.

But as like other Forest Bunglows, you always have a certain degree of risk in case of sudden arrival of VIPs, your booking might just get cancelled.

Yes it is and that's why many times people choose safer option around Bansberi but it's again a choice between being closer to nature and choosing a safer and comfortable semi urban ambience.

@Destination Anywhere, I haven't yet got any reply from you on the email I sent, not sure you received it or not, resent the email and also send a PM here in IM.

If you have received it, please respond as I need to finalize the transport part as soon as possible.

Thanks for your help again!!

my response in line :

1. Do we have to carry Entire Ration? Although there is a new canteen there they expect you to bring in the ration , at least carry tea, milk powder, sugar, rice and some veggies. else they would charge u really high for those.
1a.Do day arrange chicken/egg/Fish? - yes , but again at a high price, best u carry it from Barprta Rd. I dont think they have a fridge ,so storage for 3 day may be an issue specially for fish.
2. Do we have to carry ceresin/diesel as fuel ? NO
3. What about there Canteen? - they will cook the food for u, but expect u to carry what u want to eat.
4. For elephant safari and Boat ride whom/Where we may contact? U need to take ur own vehicle, there is no safari per say, all u need to do is pay for ur entry and stay. The FD on the Indian side doesn't have boats, and Bhutan was'nt allowing visitors into their side of the park, this is as of Nov.
5. As we are 7 people...how many Elephant and Boat we need? u need ur own vehicle thats all.
6. What is the cost of Elephant and Boat per Head?
7. We are arriving Barpeta Rd at 12.30 from kolkata...Do we get shops open for rationing?:- is that am or pm ?
8.The Forest people asked that they will provide ride for us from Barpeta Rd to Matanguri to Barpeta rd(while returning) at the cost of 1200.Is it Ok? sound a little too much, try and negotiate, 800-900 is an ok rate.
