We have 11 days. Which is the better trip? We are interested in photography. The key questions include:
1) Is Kanha more beautiful than Corbett?
2) Is it dangerous to drive in the mountains around Almora (the Kanha itinerary is all flights except the transfers to/from Raipur and Kanha)?

They have about the same travel time from my point of origin. Kanha/Varanasi/Agra is all flights, while Hardiwar/Corbett/Almora/Agra is via car and driver. My nave impression is that the lodging in Kanha is more beautiful (Kanha Earth Lodge seems much nicer than Jim's Jungle Lodge in Corbett). Also, I'm a bit concerned with safety driving through the mountains around Almora.

Please let me know what you think.
Thank you!

You dont say which month you're planning to do this? The roads in the mountains of uttarakhand are not very safe during monsoon but otherwise OK (during this time the national parks will be closed). Your quality of photographs will also depend on when you go (dusty? rainy?). Lastly, what do you enjoy photographing and what gear do you intend to carry. Without this information, very hard to answer.

Thank you for the reply. We are going March 2015. My husband does landscape photography and really loves just about any subject. Thank you!

March is end of season for Kanha and start of season for Jim Corbett Park.

You will get Jim Corbett Park greener than Kanha during the period.

You may also visit this thread for more discussion on Corbett during March (though it remained incomplete).

I agree with Prakaant that Corbett will be greener than Kanha at that time. However, it's not start of the season for Corbett or end season for Kanha. March is usually good time for tiger sightings in Kanha as it's drier and the cats have to come to the watering holes.

For landscape photography, I'd recommend the first itinerary as you'd get more variations - however, consider Rishikesh in place of Haridwar for really good views of river Ganga. Almora and nearby will give you a taste of the Himalayan landscape and Corbett will be foothills (shivalik), river, jungle etc. Corbett is a very varied park and there's a serious difference in the elevations of different zones as well as topography.

Carry a good wide angle as well as a sturdy tripod.

In my opinion you will have better chance of finding a suitable co-traveller if you start a thread , particularly specifying the details like logistics , travel options and costs involved.

Good luck for the journey.
